Hot Wheels CITY DOWNTOWN POLICE STATION BREAKOUT� Play Set

This is great! My son is going to love it, he got a starter kit for Christmas and is now a huge hot wheels fan so the plan is to add on bit by bit, I was a little worried because other reviews said they didn't get the police car but thankfully I recieved the car shown in picture.

Unit looks great. Plenty of options and functions (hasn't been set up yet little mans birthday later in the week). However it did not come with the police car as advertised in the pictures. came with a random car. This is extremely disappointing. The whole idea of a breakout and chase from a police station is that the police do the chasing. Not having a police car spoils that. Hopefully the wee man doesn't mind and still has loads of fun with this.

Lovely little hot wheels toy. The animations trigger when you drive your car over it. keep the kids entertained for little while and works particular if you're ready have a large amount of the other sets or just a general car track set up anyway.

My 4-year-old son has been enjoying playing with this Hot Wheels set. It has a nice mechanism to it that my son enjoys playing with, bits that open and an elevator that can be lifted up and down. It is also refreshing that in this day and age when so many toys require batteries this one doesn't.The toy is a police station. It is called "Downtown Police Station Breakout". The breakout bit refers to the mechanism that my son enjoys playing with. By pressing down the red roof part of the police station (which is a non-light-up siren I believe), two flat floors inside are pushed down to become ramps. Any cars on these then slide down and out of the police station through the side. If the vehicle is on the top ramp this is through some prison bars which swing open to let the car out upon impact, otherwise the car is released at floor level, and this can be done with two cars at a time, one on each level.On the other side of the building is a fold-away elevator that a car can be put on. The elevator can then go up and deliver the car to the top of the building, or to the middle where the car can go in.The elevator also can stay in the position where you put it without falling.Also the building has a double set of front doors that can be opened and closed and cars driven through. The last moving bit is a sheriff-style police badge which comes with the set and sits atop the building but which can be removed completely and worn via a clip on if desired.All these moving parts my son loves, and they fulfil the "improves motor skills" and "inspires imagination" quotes on the side of the box.The set also comes with a nice looking police car. With this being a modern Hot Wheels set the car isn't a conventional car you might see on the street, but a souped-up, fantasy police car (model name Speed Trap). There is a silver engine part on which are engraved the initials HWPD - Hot Wheels Police Department, which is a nice detail (HWPD is also on the back of the car).Overall my son is enjoys playing with this set. It is made to be joined to track and other Hot Wheels City sets so it would have been even better if there was at least one piece of track that came with this, especially considering that there are 5 places on the police station building where track can be connected to. That would have given him even more to do with this set and would have elevated this 4-star rating to a 5-star rating.

This is a pretty decent and reasonably well priced addition to a How Wheels City. It features a car and a police station, which fires out your car when you press a button, which can be useful if you have plenty of other track.It's not one I would buy without having other sets as it is only a tiny piece of road, but it is good.Recommend.

As a toy in it's own right, this Police Station play set is not much good to you unless you have one of the Hot Wheels track builder sets. It integrates well into the track system, a nice addition that gives the set an extra element of fun. The station which comes with a police car that parks in the upper level, allows you to arrest another car (not included, but available separately and with other kits) and lock it in the lower-level jail. The release button allows both cars to set off a car chase down the tracks.It might seem like a never-ending expense to have to buy extra pieces for a toy, but where Hot Wheels is concerned and where you can continually build and extend, it does give the toy an extra lease of life, refreshing it when it might otherwise be dropped and forgotten in favour of newer toys. It also helps that the little extra features and add-ons, like this Police Station playset, are nicely designed and lots of fun. It's not that expensive either, and there's a cool police badge included.

The thing about this is that realistically it's an add on item to other Hotwheels sets or track. The basic idea is that you build an entire 'city' of Hotwheels sets with track connecting them.When you do start down this path it all becomes much, much better and my grandchildren absolutely love these toys. But that's because my my wife (Nanny) and I have got quite a bit in stock for them to connect together. And I can help them, ahem..This is a fairly limited part of the set with cars being allowed to run down ramps and through doors. Problem is that this is all it does and without more track any interest tails off pretty quickly.So, by itself, a three star product, but if you add on track and a few more Hotwheels interactive sets it's great fun. And much, much better than the brain melting computer screen bilge that drains a child's head of all creativity.
