Good coverage of the material
This much scaled-down version of The Checkbook IRA by the same author is easier to get through than the original. The "conversation" is basically verbatim from the original book with a ton less of the constant repeating of the exact same text that plagued the original. It gives a good core understanding of what the differences in self-directed IRAs are and then gives the details of the IRA LLC with checkbook control that one needs to know to go that route. Details of prohibited transactions are covered. I wasn't really crazy about the dialogue format the information was presented in. I guess I'm more of a textbook type person who wants things organized and presented in a more logical and concise format.

I'm a new self-directed IRA investor with a new LLC for checkbook writing control and I was looking for guidance on the dos and don'ts of self-directed IRAs. This book gives you the information you need starting from the basics of what IRA's, 401Ks, SEP IRA's etc. are, and how they are invested. Then it moves on to what a self-directed IRA is and why so many people are unaware of them. It's is an easy to read and comprehend book that helps even the most novice self-directed IRA investor. I definitely recommend it.

I bought this book thinking I would learn something new on this particular IRA but was largely disappointed. A lot of the information within the book was available online via different companies for free.
