The media could not be loaded. This was an impulse buy for sure, it was the first thing that came up when I searched for “Perpetual Motion Device.” Best impulse buy ever! The simplest way to describe this product is a zen garden that does all the work for you. The marble moves on its own, almost like magic, drawing patterns all throughout the sand. It functions perfectly, moving almost effortlessly as it rolls along.There are hundreds of patterns to choose from! Depending on which pattern you choose, it could take anywhere from 10 minutes to 2 hours for the marble to draw it at max speed. More complex patterns take longer to draw. There is no work to be done, the marble does everything for you. All you have to do is set it up, and it does the rest! You don’t even have to worry about cleaning the canvas before starting a new pattern, it does that too!Initial setup is easy. You open the bag(s) of sand and pour them right in the center of the felt. You then use the included rake to spread the sand around the canvas. Once you do that, you place the marble in the center and then download the HoMedics drift companion app. The app will walk you through setting up the product, and will perform an initial “cleaning” session, in which the marble moves in a spiral pattern, spreading the sand out evenly and “clearing” the canvas to prepare it for your first pattern.The app will start in “Demo” mode, running the preset Demo playlist. You can stop this playlist and choose your own patterns, or just let it run. You can also create your own playlists containing your favorite patterns! You can change the color of the ambient lighting in the app, and it is fully customizable. You can even set it to color cycle or breathing if you’d like. When a drawing is in progress, there is an indicator that shows how complete the pattern is, indicated by a percentage. Pretty nifty feature.I could and have watched this thing run for hours. It is unbelievably entrancing and relaxing, and it’s a great way to take your mind off things and just zone out. There is a bit of a grinding sound from the marble rolling along, as shown in the provided video, but it’s not annoying at all. In fact, it actually enhances the experience. All in all, I would very highly recommend buying this product! If you’re on the fence, just get it now, you won’t be disappointed in the slightest!

I like it very much. Lots of intricate designs. Wish I could create and draw custom designs. How about a text editor that puts text on top of existing designs.

It puts you a such a great mood to watch it go. To look over and see the finishing art is amazing .

Update: After a month of back and forth with customer service, they shipped out a new one, and it's been working perfectly for a month now. The customer service reps on the phone were very helpful and sympathetic, much better than email chain responses. If you have an issue with yours I would definitely call them instead of emailing.I bought this for my Mom & Step Dad for Christmas, and it worked great for about a month and they loved it! Then it needed to be reset more and more frequently in order to work properly. 2 months later it won't reset at all, won't load a design from the app, it's just a paperweight at this point... We contacted customer service, gave them all of the info requested, did all of the trouble shooting instructions they gave, and with no resolution to the problem, they have stopped responding via email completely. Clearly if the device won't reset manually, then there's a problem with it. I'll update this review if any progress is made.

I purchased the 21 inch drift kinetic sand table after deciding not to purchase the $3500 coffee table made by a different company. I wanted to see if it was something that helped me relax. Considering the price of this versus the super expensive coffee table Table version by a different company, it’s amazing. Watching the ball create the patterns and move around the table is so soothing and relaxing to my brain. I can put on some headphones put on some good music and watch this thing for hours. The app works flawlessly and the massive amount of design options is great. The only thing I wish I could do would be import my own designs. I really hope at some point they add that ability to the app. But there are so many preset designs I haven’t even gone through a third of them yet. If you’re considering purchasing an end table then I would recommend getting the stand and the table. Every single person that has come over to my house has wanted to watch it. It is a great conversation starter and a really cool thing to have in my home. I am very happy with the purchase and I cannot recommend it highly enough. I took it out of the box and had it making its first design in less than two minutes. All of the different lighting color options etc. and the app make it even better.
