WildFinder Rooftop Tent, Hard Shell Roof Top Tent for Jeep SUV Truck Van

I had considered buying a rooftop tent for a year or two now, but most of the big name brand models are $2.5-5k, when I saw this on sale for Amazon day I figured it was worth a shot at that price and I’m glad I did. Amazing value and quality! Makes setting up camp a breeze! For installation you’ll need an upgraded roof rack that can hold the weight of the tent while traveling + people when parked. The tent itself weighs about 70lbs. It’s well made and easy to use, just open the clasps and give it a little push and you’re set. The rain fly is removable if you’re in an area where you don’t need it. Closing it up can be a little challenging without a second person because the tent fabric wants to push out the sides as you compress it, but go slow and tuck it in all the way around and it seals up nicely. Overall the design is well thought out and convenient. The telescoping ladder comes with a case, and fits inside the closed tent along with a couple of blankets laid flat. It also comes with a bag to hold shoes that attaches to the side.

I bought this camper for what ended up being a 7150 mile trip hitting about 10 national parks and monuments and driving the 101 around Olympic park to San Fransisco. This camper was great and from my research it is pretty comparable to more expensive tents. What I learned is that you can use or just role up the awning. I was also able to add 1.5 more inches of memory foam and make the bed so it was ready at each stop! I didn't leave pillows in, but you can, just is harder to close. The shoe bags only work on the end of the camper. I was looking for the best camper for the money, and I believe I found it. Only thing it might have is a vent for a diesel heater, but we had a night at 9k feet in Beartooth lake and was quite warm...when in the tent. This tent gave us the ability to save on hotels and wake up in much more beatiful places and even pull over and take a nap in a rest park. We slept 15 of the 20 nights in the camper, only staying in a hotel 2 and at a friends for 3 nights. We stayed on free sites on BLM and at National forests with the most for any site being $25, which was a really great savings on the trip. It seems to be very water proof and the top window allows for ventilation. I am 6 ft tall and I wouldn't want to be much taller, but two of you can sleep at an angle and gain more room if needed if you don't mind getting a bit cozy with one another. The many pockets are great for stoarage. It fit well on my Ford Maverick and we could pop it up quickly if not using the rain fly, but you get pretty good at using the included rods for the fly. The only thing that could be better is the mattress, but I believe that is true of most camping solutions. I recommend a lot of pillows and used a body pillow and found it more comfortable than my wife. It can be taken down by one person easily, but takes some practice to tie off the strap and then tuck in both sides completely before closing it down. I had not intended on keeping it as I have a tear drop camper, but I may keep it to use for road trips and venture crew as it is very convenient. I used my deer winch to put it on my truck and it is something that needs to be well thought out or done with help. I used mine on a AWD 4k Tow Ford Maverick getting about 28-30mpg on the trip fully loaded as you can see in the pictures.

Great value on an all-aluminum housed RTT! I spent a fair amount of time considering different RTT setups. Since the tent will spend most of it's time on the truck (not garage stored) a soft-shell was not an option. Since there is high UV exposure where I am, I also didn't love the idea of a poly-shell that would get brittle and crack over time. No thank you on potential leaks. All that said, an all-aluminum body was the option for me. I then discovered that this "family" of RTT's tends to bring a hefty price-tag, and the search began. I came across this tent, sold under different names under different listings, and started digging in. Some listings offer "the whole package" while others don't include some of the bells & whistles. At the time I found this one, it included "luggage crossbars" that unfortunately had been removed as an option by the time I ordered. Below is a break-down of each portion of the experience: • Order and shipping: I delayed in ordering because I would be traveling for a length of time and didn't want the shipment to arrive during my absence and be sitting outside waiting for my return. Process was quick and simple. Shipment showed up in roughly a week (I don't remember exactly...maybe 8-days). Product arrives in a sturdy cardboard crate (too rugged to call a box) and is well packaged to protect the contents. Even with the durable packaging, unboxing is still very simple. I do recommend setting the package on an elevated surface before removing packaging (sawhorses, sturdy table). All accessories are packed within the tent, so no loose parts to worry about getting lost in transit. *Note: check all the details of the listing. As mentioned, several listings look the same, but aren't. Admittedly there were some less expensive options, but shipping was weeks (sometimes months) out from order and several accessories were not included. Also worth looking at warranty. In my experience, for less than $30 more in purchase the warranty period was doubled vs other listings. At the time I purchased, it ran about $1100 (shipping included). Some listings for basically the same tent with a different badge were $3k+. Others were listed below $800, but then added $300 or more for shipping • Accessories: As mentioned, when I first found the listing (2) luggage bars were included. By the time I ordered (some weeks later) the bars had been removed from the listing. Not a huge deal as there are 3rd-party retailers that sell directly compatible kits relatively inexpensively. The other accessories that are included are the interior LED lighting (great with a small power bank connected), mattress & washable cover, (2) shoe bags, telescoping ladder (with high-quality storage bag), and a good quality tool/hardware kit packaged in a high-quality bag to keep everything together. • Mounting: I have a set of bed-bars already installed and installation couldn't have been easier. With a helper, simply set tent in place and use included bracket system with tracks incorporated into base of tent to secure to your vehicle. A few extra steps may be involved if installing on a roof-platform rack, but the mount is pretty straightforward. Another thing I love about this tent is the (3) different options for access. Either side or the rear. I had to relocate the side ladder-mount brackets to clear my rack system, but it's a very easy adjustment. Everything on this tent seems to be built with forethought to adjustability. • Setup and packing of this system is a breeze. Setup is literally popping the latches and lifting. Then install (4) rods to deploy rain-fly/awning and you're good to go. I have not experienced rain when camping, but have no doubt by it's design that when zipped-up it'll stay dry inside. I love that the awning/rain-fly is a full 3-sided covering, not just over the rear entry like some similar tents. This keeps ALL the entry points protected during weather and provides a substantial waterproof ledge over doors keeping water out while venting. Additionally, the high-mounted venting window over the main door is fantastic and is weather-protected by awning so it can be used without worrying about wind-driven rain. Great for fresh-air and dissipating moisture so there isn't condensation build-up within the tent, but you can maintain privacy keeping the main doors closed. And if you're a person who needs full darkness to sleep, this thing is black-out when all zipped-up. I have not done any winter camping in it yet, but I imagine it keeps heat in well. Many gear-pouches keep everything close at hand. And my favorite part, I can pack my bedding/pillows IN the tent when closed which saves packing additional gear in/on the rig. Plus all your bedding stays clean and dry in the event you are doing setup during poor weather. If I put a different mattress in, I may lose some of that storage space, but there is room to put a thicker mattress in if desired. I've been sleeping well on the provided mattress and don't have plans to upgrade at this time. I'm not a small fella (6', 250+ lbs) and fit comfortably in the tent. For me, a second small to medium sized person could work. Another tall person or 3 (even with one as a child) wouldn't be an option. For 1-2 people (especially smaller than me) this is a great tent. • Final thoughts: For my needs of a solid RTT that will be durable and hold up to nearly full-time exposure this is a great option. I do most of my trips solo, so the smaller footprint isn't a big deal and I like that it's light and doesn't take up a bunch of space on top of my rig. It has a sleek profile and doesn't have a ton of wind-resistance when driving. I've since added luggage bars and have carried multiple items over the top. Works great. I would absolutely recommend this tent for parties of 1-2 with rigs ranging from a 2-door jeep clear up to a van. It's a very versatile piece of equipment.

Pre use/1st week review Quality: 4/5 -seems really well made. No finish issues. Material of the tent fabric seems durable. Aluminum is precise. Definitely a lot of value in this $1k unit vs a lot of other options. Water proof: tbd/5 -I read reviews on leaks and added a water proof foam gasket(1/8” thick) to the lower shell unit to seal it when closed before exposing it to rain. I had it outside in the rain for a few days. Still dry inside. First test passed👍 Weight: -The weight is stated on the listing. If you can’t lift it, get friends or buy a different RTT. Comfort -I’m 5’9” 180lbs, me and my kids(5/7) fit comfortably and the mattress is comfy too. I’m used to solo camping while hunting in the mountains so this is like a 5 star hotel in comparison to what I'm used to. Will update once it’s mounted and put to a few field tests.

This thing ROCKS! My wife have had this installed on our truck for a little over a month now and we’ve already used it at least 10 times. We love how easy it is to use and enjoy as it only takes 30 SECONDS to setup! The product is a bit heavy so you will need 3-4 people to help install onto a bed rack or roof rack but I have zero regrets for buying this tent! The inside is nicely cushioned and the airflow feels great with the mesh windows open! If you prefer pitch black dark for sleeping, the mesh windows also have a solid blackout window connected to it! The tent is also water resistant so we haven’t had any issues with getting wet or anything inside getting wet! I think the value for the money is unbeatable! This roof top tent gets 10/5 stars for me!

I’ve been really happy with this rooftop tent. It was easy to set up, feels sturdy, and has held up well so far. I sleep comfortably in it, and it’s made camping a lot more enjoyable than setting up a ground tent every time. I drive a lifted Toyota Tundra, and it fits my setup perfectly. The materials feel well made, and I haven’t had any issues with zippers or the ladder. The photo is from one of our camping trips so you can see how it looks in a real campsite. If you’re looking for a solid rooftop tent that’s simple to use and comfortable, I’d definitely recommend it. Can’t wait for more road trips to use this!

I was impressed with the overall quality of the product when received. Mounted it on my truck and was unable to use it due to illness and when we opened it up in prep for a trip on 30 Apr 26 it held 4" of water in the bottom of the tent and the mattress and sides were covered with mold. It was sealed as we left it in Nov 25 and was left outside on my truck all Winter. I can not and will not attempt to sleep in the tent so it is ruined and useless. It was clearly NOT weatherproof and since we are well past the 30 return window I am stuck with a thousand dollar piece of crap....of no value unless someone would like it to grow mushrooms in it. We are VERY disappointed.

The rooftop tent arrived well packaged and was easy to set up. The materials feel sturdy, and it fits securely on my vehicle. I’ve only used it a few times so far, but it has been comfortable and has held up well. Overall, I’m happy with the quality and value for the price and would recommend it to anyone looking for a rooftop tent.
