All but the tape, booklet and scissors are plastic wrapped. The case does not have compartments, but having had a hard compartmentalised case before, I have actually found products easier to access from this unit in an emergency - the compartments in the old case were actually quite fiddly and slowed you down. My unit came with 2 years and 7 months until expiry which I thought was great.
