I bought this with a little trepidation after reading the mixed reviews, but I'm really glad I purchased it. I have a number of mobility limitations, and I was heading into a vacation where I knew I'd need to be on my feet a lot. This cane came in so handy, from assisting with walking to enabling me to enjoy exhibits at museums far more because I could sit whenever I needed to. If I was standing in front of an exhibit with lots of words or that I just wanted to contemplate longer, I could just unfold the chair part and sit. It was also handy for waiting in line or just waiting for a friend. It was a lifesaver on vacation.This little thing is quite sturdy. I'm around 5'6" between 250 and 275 lbs, and this thing held up just fine. I never felt worried about it being able to bear my weight. And for how small the seat is, it's surprisingly comfortable. I wouldn't want to sit on it for a *long* time, but for 10 or 15 minutes, it is perfectly fine. It's also quite light weight to carry around, and the adjustable legs meant I could get it at the right height for me. While I was on vacation, a woman with a similar type of chair cane saw this one and remarked that mine looked better - a bigger seat, sturdier, and she was jealous that it had an adjustable height. I even used it as a makeshift little table occasionally to set my water bottle on. I found that easier than trying to lean the cane up against something when I was out and about but wasn't using it.In fact, if I have any complaint, it would be that some kind of hand strap could be helpful at the end of the handle in case you need your hand free for a second. Like many canes, I imagine, it doesn't stand well on its own, so having the ability to just suspend it from my wrist occasionally would have been really nice. But otherwise, no complaints. I'll probably be using it on future travel and maybe other scenarios as well.Good purchase, definitely recommend.

UPDATES TO ORIGINAL REVIEWSeveral reviewers mentioned what they considered to be a problem with the seat moving a bit out of its locked position when BigAlex is being used as a cane.There are TWO locking positions on the clip: the first will grip the pole seemingly fine, but pushing it in firmly just a bit more REALLY locks it in place.Also, while the product is absolutely great for where no seats are available, it is also useful when other seating IS available, but where the seats are very low and/or are too cushy to easily get up from (and may also be uncomfortable to sit in.)ORIGINAL REVIEWRight out of the box, all I had to do was simply push in the three leg extensions (I chose maximum length), and open the seat. Then sit down on it. Others may want to adjust the legs shorter.I had spent what was probably several hours reading the reviews of many similar-looking cane-seats … and the BigAlex had none of their design, quality, and safety issues.Now … to be sure … it is a small seat, and it takes a little practice to get on and off it safely. Even a big guy like me was able to get comfortable getting on and off after only about 10 minutes of practicing.The trick that worked for me was to position the seat on the floor between my legs (handle in front of me), and my thumbs pressing down hard continuously on the front edge (hinged edge) of the seat (for stability). The procedure was reversed for getting out of the seat, keeping downward pressure on the front of the seat. .It’s all very similar to the manufacturer’s video … plus the continuous pressure on the front of the seat while sitting down and getting off.Incidentally, as a cane, it’s perfect that the center leg is the only one that touches the ground … this single-point contact is exactly like a regular cane. I bought 2 of these things and after a couple of weeks the light goes out....the reason I bought them was for the light and....i take the dog out after dark and the light was handy as long as it worked...will have to find another manufacturer....

Nice 'catch' to hold it together when walking. Not too heavy. Seems durable. A bit overpriced, but durability makes it a worthwhile purchase. Got the one with LED. Flashlight bright, could be very useful in dark areas or as emergency flashlight.

It's easy to fold up and out. While it could be more comfortable with a padded seat, it's not too bad. It's lightweight and easy to carry and serves my needs very well.

I bought this in Feb 2023, for husband to help him walk. The light bulb set unfortunately missing after few months usage. For that reason, I need to have a new setting of the bulp, so he can use it when he walks in the evening. Your prompt respond will be much appreciated. Love this cane with seat. I use when grocery shopping and my back goes into spasm. I can now complete my shopping without having to leave early because of pain. I bought another one for my son who had hip injury and can’t stand too long. Now can sit and get relief

This is a great product is very lightweight. You could take it anywhere and you can use it anytime especially in line at the bank or post office. Very sturdy
