TMB Motorsports Retractable Cargo Cover for 2017+ Mazda CX-5

After reading some of the reviews stating that is extremely difficult to remove the cargo cover once it is installed, I was hesitant to purchase one. However, the price and otherwise positive comments were impressive. So, I purchased the TBM Cargo Cover for our 2019 Mazda CX-5. I am relieved to be able to report that it fits perfectly. It took less than a minute to install and less than a minute to remove. I had no difficulty with either the installation or removal. Perhaps there has been a design change with either the cargo cover or the 2019 CX-5. The important things I did observe: The cargo cover did not come with instructions. The ends of the cargo cover main body contain springs and are easy to slide for installation and removal. The CX-5 attachment assembly on the rear hatch has a hook and safely latch, for lack of anything better to name them. The attachment bar on the cargo cover must rest on top of the CX-5 hook and below the CX-5 safety latch. The safety latch prevents the cargo cover from accidentally coming loose. If the cargo cover bar is allowed to get on top of the safety latch it will be difficult to remove it. I am attaching pictures detailing the installation.

Looks and works like original equipment. Had to take 2 minutes to install. Very happy, will update if there are any problems. Unfortunately after only 1 an 1/2 months, the cover no longer retracts. So you decide if it’s worth your money? I have to update this review by saying that after contacting the seller I quickly received a replacement for the inoperative cover. So I’d say that with positive support from this seller it is a very good value, thanks TMB Motor Sports.

Pros: Good quality fabric, easy to install, plenty of travel to fully open trunk. Fit well in my 2018 CX5, packaged well (plastic bag & soft plastic liner in box) Cons: product arrived broken (it did not retract) out of the box. Luckily it was easy to repair. No manual or customer support/product information in the box If yours arrives broken, or does not retract over time (this repair takes about 10 minutes): This is likely because the internal spring has become loose. Luckily it is easy to repair. 1 - Once removed from your car, simply remove both endcaps (by removing 4 standard phillipshead screws), be sure to hold on to them securely as there are internal springs 2 - Remove the internal endcaps and the roll of fabric and roll up the fabric around the tube 3 - Remove the spring assembly system from the metal fabric roll tube (it probably came undone from one of the internal endcaps) 4 - Using some needle-nose pliers, bend the end of the loop of the spring such that it will now securily hold on the one endcap, then re-insert the spring into the metal tube and attach the internal endcap 5 - preload the spring by twisting the internal endcap about 10-15 times and reassemble the fabric roll into the housing with both internal endcaps 6 - Insert the outer springs and outer endcaps and put the original 4 screws back last I hope this helps!

The fit was nice and installation pretty intuitive. The square cross bar is spring loaded and fits right in to the designated slots behind the seat. As described in one of the other reviews, as long as it is clipped in correctly, remove is not too bad. The longevity of the clip from the car is questionable with repeated on and off so time will tell. For the price relative to the OEM one, it is a good deal. I just don't see how the OEM one installs any differently. As suggested by one of the other reviews, a small carabiner will do the trick for easy detachment.

I got this item nearly a week before I expected delivery. What a fantastic item!! So glad I listened to all the great reviews on this cover. Item was new and in perfect shape when it arrived. It fits my 2018 CX-5 perfectly! Like a glove! Slips right into the manufacturers groves, holds tight and snug up against the back seats without fear of any scratches or damage. I chose to keep it hooked to the tailgate permanently (you don't have to) but it can be unhooked quickly and easily to keep bigger items in the back if needed. I'm truly impressed as is my "car guy" hubby who was just smiling away when I popped it in the car this morning. I especially liked the price which was way under what the dealer wanted. So, in review, don't doubt this product and go ahead and order! You will NOT regret it!

This fits my 2017 CX5 perfectly. It operates and functions just like the OEM. Installation was very easy. At a substantial discount compared to the dealer price tag. I cannot distinguish the difference between the two. Good quality and mechanism works very well.
