why is the Amazon price nearly double that of other retailers?

Call your local Starbucks store(s). Starbucks is an authorized retailer of Ember mugs. I saw the prices on Amazon and the later shipping time on the Ember website, called my local Starbucks and had them put one aside for me to purchase at the regular $79.99 price. Chances are, that's what the Amazon sellers are doing too - so get yours quick!

Can the mug be used without the saucer or is the saucer part of the heating system?

The mug may be used for a few hours without the saucer. The saucer is the charging device. Thanks for asking! :)

Can this product be used without a smartphone and app?

YES. The mug can be used perfectly fine without a smartphone or app. It is set to 130 degrees by default (not 135), which is a nice, toasty temperature. The only things you can't do without the app is customize the temperature or change one of the LED colors; totally not a big deal.

Will the charger accept 220v?

Thank you for reaching out. The Ember charger can accept anything between 100V AC and 240V AC so with the appropriate adapter it can be used in countries with 220V AC. :)
