The third release of the revival series of limited edition single malts (10,000 of vol3) and as per the previous releases aged in a more unusual cask and beautifully packaged. A 14 year old with a years finish in Pinneau Des Charentes 350 litre casks (A fortified aperitif wine from France) after 13 years in Ex-Bourbon casks. Nose: Fresh orchard fruits, griddled pineapple, vanilla icing sugar, almond nougart, very elegant, fragrant and delicately spiced, toasted marshmallow, orange blossom honey. Palate: More ripe orchard fruit, in fact a sweet fruit overload. Pancakes with golden syrup, vanilla ice cream, almond nougart, marshmallow, sugared palma violets. Finish: Fresh as a summer meadow with fragrant ripe orchard fruit, grilled pineapple with vanilla sugar, aromatic oak and blossom honey. You do not see many Pinneau Des Charentes cask finished whisky and on this evidence i would like to see more, a summery and fresh aperitif style malt from this ever impressive new Dublin distillery. Irish whisky at its most elegant and dare i say, French!
