Great product backed by great support
I first ordered a cheaper dowel jig from another vendor on Amazon, and did not like that one. The jig was so sharp on the edges that handling it was very unpleasant, I felt I would cut/scrape myself constantly. I returned that jig and got this one due to the many good reviews and it was so worth it.This jig is very nicely smooth on the edges, which made handling so much more pleasant. This was much larger and heavier than the previous jig I got; that seemed to be the result of substantial quality material and larger capacity- it worked very well. I like the wide capacity jaws. I actually liked that it was wider and larger as it seemed to be more stable and easier to position correctly on the work piece. I also really liked that it came with instructions on how to calibrate the jig if necessary. The jig came correctly calibrated. I am happy to pay more for a quality product that will be useful for many years, not just become junk when I need to tackle a bigger/more important project in the future. What especially made it worthy of a review was their great customer service.I had problems with the 3/8 drill guides, and at first, was confused that I could not contact them directly via their webpage (it would redirect me back to amazon). So I messaged the company through Amazon and James, the agent who responded, was so great. He was polite and prompt, and immediately responded that he would send me out another set of drill guides. The set he sent me arrived quickly, but they accidentally gave me 3 of the 1/4 inch guides and only 1 of the 3/8 inch guides. I contact James again, and he immediately apologizes and sends me out another set! I offered to pay for an additional set and he said they don't have it set up to buy replacement drill guides but that they would be happy for me to contact them if I have any issues in the future. Thank you James! And having contacted them more than once, I believe him. I am really glad to have a quality product backed by a quality company who are responsive and helpful. So this turned out to be a great investment in my tool box! I also liked that it came in different colors so I can find it quick amongst my other tools.I've just used this jig to add extensions to the back of the Ikea billy bookcase (to make it deeper). This jig was great, and my project finished wonderfully- no screw holes or fasteners visible, all with the dowels and woodglue! It's turned out beautifully and we're so pleased. This jig made it possible and efficient, and I look forward to using it for other projects in the future.

Great on larger wood stock-Quality, sturdy design
Pros: Easy to set up and use. Accurate holes. High quality design.Cons: Alignment markings could be more visible. Drill bit collet difficult to keep secure. Not really a con, but work pieces need to be firmly held or placed in a vise as drilling creates significant wobble.I highly recommend this product!

Great quality tool
Every once in a while you buy something that exceeds your every expectation. This is one of those. It’s solidly built, smooth and precise. I bought it for a specific need but now I’m looking for other projects to use it on.

Just Good Enough
Overall I’m pleased as the two projects I’ve used this jig on have come out nice. I have a few pros and cons.Pros:-Aluminum and threaded rods seem to be good quality.-Dowel holes are straight-Pieces in my project fit tightly togetherCons:-It seems my jig was a return because the 3/8” threaded adapter had deep scoring marks on the inside where someone else had run a drill bit through it.-Sometimes no matter how tight I got it clamped, there would still be some slop in the center piece and my hole would end up off the centerline I started it on.-Not sure what the threaded inserts are rated for but after about 30 holes drilled, the drill bit felt loose, indicating that the walls of the insert were being thinned by the bit. This led to dowels having a loose fit.Tips:-Having a new sharp drill bit is critical. A brad tip bit is best as it will give the bit a little bite when starting.-Drilling into end grain seemed to go much smoother than edge grain for me. This may have been more about the wood type (white oak) than the jig.-Use the oak dowels that have splines vs. the spiral ones. The ones I got had a much more snug fit.

A dream to use
Fantastic! All metal parts and very accurate. I used this jig to make Plantation shutters, which required great accuracy of doweling. Using this jig, I produced a very professional result, quickly and easily. I wish I had found this years ago. Very good value for money and very good quality and very easy to line up drill holes accurately so both sides of wood match perfectly. Can be used on projects, big and small, and varying thicknesses of wood. I highly recommend this jig.

Good tolerances
High quality. Tolerances are quite good. Worked perfectly for sinking posts into a solid wood mantle for hanging.

Manufacturing defect
Updating this to 3 stars because the shipper issued me a full refund. This product came defective. Unfortunately I bought it two weeks ago and threw away the packaging so I can't return it. Today when I went to use it for the first time, I discovered one hole in the black center piece is completely stripped and the hole next to it isn't threaded at all, so none of the inserts can be used in that hole.
