i wanted something different, and we got it for sure.i grew up in new england, in RI, so there's a lot of beaches off the mainland. while I live in the northwest now, there's lots of driftwood and not a lot of shells - that is why I wanted these, and I can place them in a vase or something else after the holidays!these seem real and so worth the price, but we also got them on sale. other reviews mention the package being broken or shells busted, mine weren't, but I still checked - so I suggest checking them as soon as you get them, then tape up the box! unfortunately, things happen during shipping, but I do believe the box adds some pretty good support, almost too much, as getting the shells out seemed hard for a few!they say handmade, but they don't look handmade, they look natural, from the shine and color to 'no two are alike', at least that's what I feel. I've seen other pictures and none of them look the same, so whatever.. if they're handmade, they're freaking awesomely crafted!so, overall, we like them. we're a family of 3, including an 18 year old son, and he likes them, he had even put them back in their holes so they don't get lost while we open up the others!this whole idea is different, fun BUT, not for everybody! seriously though, these shells are mostly like none I've seen before, up and down the east coast of the USA, so that's saying something!while maybe this advent calendar is more for me than my son, it's still fun and he enjoys hearing about what creatures may have lived in them! some shells are pretty pointed, so be careful if you have little ones! it also comes with a laminated like sheet in many different languages, of all the shells and some information on them.I think this would also be a good gift for other people who love shells or whatnot, because, for those who do love them, they never get old, because they're always different!I would purchase again if i knew someone who liked shells or if the set came with different shells from other areas of the world!

This is a unique advent calendar. After you've tried all the usual options, this is something new and interesting for those who are into shells. The shells are almost as pictured, some are not as vibrant as on the stock photo, but they are of the kind shown and descriptions are provided for each.

Absolutely SHOCKED nothing was broken due to how flimsy the shipping packaging is. Customer support was proactive and reached out to me to make sure I received my item and if anything went wrong in shipping. Which I greatly appreciated.Excitingly, every shell survived and my mom is having a fantastic time getting a seashell every day. We all enjoy looking at the shells (even the cats 😄) and learning tidbits of info about each shell type. Oh, speaking about the info...... if English isn't your language, you might struggle with the shell profile paper. Only German is fully written in German. Everything else says the name "Seashell Profile" in a different language, but the description is in English. So that's a bit of a bummer for other languages.Otherwise, I fully agree that this is a worthwhile gift for armchair shellers who can't go shelling.

The seashells were much larger than expected and all were in great shape (no cracks, etc.). I was expecting smaller/cheaper looking shells and was thrilled when this turned out to be such quality (and cool) collection.

My child liked very much this calendar. The really nice size of the shells and different kinds the of shells.

Nice quality and fun until, 9 days into the month and we have had two days with no shell! Nothing! Very disappointing.

My 7 year old son loves this! The stones are good quality and we like reading the description for each one. The only negative is the slots are so small so it’s a challenge for him (and I) to get some of the larger stones out. We’re scraping fingers trying and have to turn it over to help get it out.

My 5 year old grandson is so excited to open this each day. It is good practice for learning numbers. I am happy with the variety of rocks.
