I think installing the bulb took the longest. The app needs location and Bluetooth to connect to the bulb but I found if you set the color you like, you can turn them off and close the app and it will keep the color. Even turn off at the wall and keep the same colors. I enjoy the app and the range of colors. There is one thing I don't like, the "styles" presets don't allow for changing of brightness. I attempted to make a rainbow pulse but it was too bright to keep on all the time.
