The tape is 7mm wide if you want to know. I used this to replace some AVSL COB LED Tape lights under one of my kitchen cupboards. TLC Direct wanted £42 for a replacement 5m reel of the original AVSL lights, so I thought I'd try this one for £20. The specs are almost the same, 12w per meter, 3000k , dimmable etc... the only difference was this one has a slightly lower LED density (480 LEDs / Meter v 520 for t he AVSL product) and the AVSL product is wider (10mm v 7mm for this one). Now its all installed and working fine. Dimming works fine and the replacement light looks exactly the same as the other under cupboard lighting. The width of the tape made no difference. The brightness is the same. I'm very happy. £20 is a lot better than £42 for the AVSL product from TCL.

I wanted a soft LED strip for my kitchen, underneath the floor standing cupboards and this has worked a dream. Easy to install and terminates perfectly into my LED driver which is required for these to work.

While the item you receive does the job of providing good lighting, I'm not impressed that the item description says "Included Components Remote control" and hints that a power unit may be included, which is not the case: this item came with only the lighting strip on a dispensing reel. Experienced users will be familiar with the need to source the power source and driver parts individually as needed but this is not immediately obvious to new users.

This LED strip light came at an oppotune time as now that the winter is here the solar led lghts currently fitted along the covered passageway at the side of my house no longer function. The canopy is in 5 x one metre sections with an alloy tube along the outer edge, so my intention is to cut this strip into 5 pieces and run each piece along the alloy strip. This strip thankfully is suited to the task as it can be cut at 25mm intervals where the contacts can be seen. I will then solder some light guage wires onto these contacts, run these wires along each supporting arm to the side of the house and connect to a suitable 12v transformer. I dont want these illuminated constantly so will incorporate a dusk till dawn sensor in the circuit and a motion sensor too so that it only illuminates when walking along the passageway. I might even fit the Aquara FP2 presence sensor at the end of the passageway so that each strip will only illuminate when someone is in that particular section..that will certainly be "cool" and will be an interesting project for sure! (my wife thinks i'm mad!) Anyway, back to the item.... This LED strip comes wound on a spool, as previously stated it is cutable to any suotable shorter mength, the remaining piece can be reused by soldering wires onto the connections where it has been cut. The density of the LEDs give a smoother strip of light than some others where the individual LEDs are noticable. There is a self adhesive tape on the rear for the purpose of mounting on the appropriate surface. The small sample of tape that I tried seemed to have good adhesive qualities, bu this will be dependent upon the type of surface that it is stuck to, obviously the surface needs to be super clean, free from grease, dust or other contaminants and as smooth as possible. I bench tested this strip using a spare 12v transformer that I have, it gives out a good level of light, not too bright that would be dazzling, but sufficient to illuminate a kitchen worktop for example. Bear in mind thet these are 12 volt operation NOT the now more usual 24 volt, so you need to ensure that the correct transformer is used/purchased (no transformer is supplied) £16.99 at the time of my review which I consider to be good value for money.

This light strip comes in a resealable foil package and inside you’ll find the light strip wrapped around a plastic reel. The light strip is 5 metres long and features the latest LED technology which offers a light that is uniform along the whole strip. Traditional LED strip have LEDs placed at certain points along the strip so if they are near a surface, they will have spotting which is where the light reflecting on the wall is brighter where the LED is placed. These COB (Chip On Board) LED strips still have LEDs on the strip, but they are a lot smaller and have a rubber coating along the whole length. This rubber strip is illuminated by the LEDs so all you see is a fully illuminated strip of light. They are really bright and are perfect for ambient lighting behind furniture as they give an even glow all along the strip. They are also good for direct lighting as it gives a nice effect with the flowing illumination along the strip and the adhesive backing allows it to be fixed to most clean and dry surfaces. The light they give off is a daylight white which I feel looks more modern that the warmer yellow tint you can get. The strip can be cut as there are cut intervals every 2.5cm along. You do need to supply your own LED driver for these as there is no power supply included in the package. They are low power, so you don’t need a powerful one to run these. Strips can be combined together to create longer runs but you’ll need a driver with a slightly higher output for really long runs.

Easy solution for under-cabinet lighting for the kitchen providing a nice even light. The quality looks good and the adhesive sticks well as long as you degrease the surface with a product like Elbow Grease or sugar soap as the underneath of cabinets can be quite greasy. No power supply is included so you'll need a separate 12 volt DC supply for it.
