*Finger Millet Seeds: A tiny powerhouse for big flavor..very nice.
*Finger Millet Seeds: A tiny powerhouse for big flavor* These tiny finger millet seeds might not look like much, but they pack a serious nutritional punch! They have a slightly earthy flavor that adds depth to curries, salads, and even breakfast bowls. I love to toast them before using for an extra nutty crunch. While grinding your own flour is an option, these seeds are perfect for adding whole grain goodness to any dish.

*Ragi for a Flatbread Twist*
*Ragi for a Flatbread Twist* While finger millet rotis might be a bit denser than wheat rotis, they have a satisfying chewiness that I've grown to appreciate. The key is finding the right balance of water to flour to achieve the desired texture. It's a fun way to add variety to your roti repertoire!

Suprising Flavor
The result was a fluffy, slightly chewy grain with a nutty flavor. It was the perfect base for a variety of dishes. I've used it in pilafs, salads, and even as a breakfast porridge. The possibilities are endless!

Introducing Finger millet to my baby
My pediatrician recommended finger millet as a first food for my baby, and it's been a lifesaver! The seeds grind easily into a smooth consistency, and my little one loves the mild, slightly sweet flavor. Plus, it's packed with essential nutrients to support healthy growth.

I have ordered this product couple of times, each time it arrived next day. The packaging was beautifully done, and the bag was inside another cellphone bag, so even if it was left outside the contents would not get wet. I love the product and shall definitely buy again.

I've never had millet before, that I know of at least, so I was pretty excited to try it. I love trying new food things. When I opened the bag I was surprised by a scent I only know to describe like thyme. Like a mildly minty floral scent. That caught me off guard. The cooking instructions on the amazon listing and the bag are both pretty different. So I just googled and went with a 2:1 water:millet ratio. That seemed to work great. I brought it to a boil, added the millet (didn't take the time to presoak), turned it to low and let it sit there for 15-20 minutes and it was done. So I knew what I was getting in to I tried it entirely plain at first. There's not much flavor, but I liked it. A slight nuttiness/earthiness. Oddly I got none of that thyme like thing I smelled when I opened the bag. I do NOT have a refined sense of taste so take this as you will. I added a (un)healthy dose of butter and immediately loved it just as is. I'll continue experimenting with meals with it now that I know what the "base" is like, but I think this is going to become a part of my diet. I'll be ordering more.

I cook this like rice. I use a 3:1 water to millet ratio and cook in a clay pot. Make sure to soak overnight before cooking.

I had to deduct one star from the start because this product is not labeled organic since it comes from India. That really through me off. Upon further inspection, it is clearly labeled as Non-GMO and chemical free which is always a plus. I am not overly familiar with millet, but since we eat quinoa, I am always open to a nutritious grain alternative. This is a generous 2 lb bag of unpolished millet. It comes well packaged, and the bag is resealable. Like quinoa, millet can be flavored with whatever you like, like chicken stock, butter, garlic powder, etc which makes it versatile. I did find the bag cooking instructions a bit daunting simply due to the 2 hours soaking time recommended prior to cooking. I am lucky if I think to plan that far ahead of cooking...lol. The cooking time after the soak is very similar to quinoa, around 15-20 minutes. The texture holds up in cold salads. I look forward to experimenting more and making millet a routine addition to our healthy organic diet as it is packed with nutrients.
