Great Book!
I bought it in Kindle format so I can read it on my dual monitor while I sculpt on the other. Its a great resource to have at a glance. Great thing about these books in kindle format, is that you can do a quick word search for your topic in as about much time it takes to type the word. I highly recommend getting this book in kindle format and any other Graphic design books. This is my 2nd zbrush book in Kindle format, and I will be replacing my library with this format in the next few months as well as buying all my future Zbrush books in this fashion. If you are concerned about the companion DVD's that come with these books, The publisher gives you a link on the first few pages after the title page. listed with the ID numbers of the book.

Buy if you want to lean ZBrush
A fantastic resource for learning the fundamentals of ZBrush and a solid reference for the more advanced digital artist. Visual learners will find the book has lots of images to help explain the practical examples. The accompanying DVD contains assets (i.e. tools, brushes, Photoshop references, project files) to open in ZBrush for sculpting following chapter lessons. The book is extremely well-written. The 3rd edition addresses software updates to ZBrush through version 4 R3, and is written for a broad spectrum of digital artists. This book is a `must have' for any artist serious about ZBrush. The extensive index is useful in finding specific topics covered in over 400 pages of text and images. Great value for the price and time devoted to reading and completing lessons.

If you have purchased ZBrush you have just aimed, if you want to shoot... in here you'll find some powerful bullets
I Bought the Zbrush and I had the feeling with all the tutorials of pixologic, I could accomplish some goals with the software, but I was kind of lost, I guess the path to knowledge could be longer if you don't want to invest on it. So I looked for the best book available and I guess I found it. The book explains step by step how to make the most of the tool. all the complex path to get to the exact palettes and tools to get the job done it's decrypted here. The firs chapters revolve around sculpting a figure. A Dragon. If you are into Z brush, probably this will be something you'll want to get your hands on. from the basic sculpting process to the most detailed finishings that will take your work to the next level.I Have not finished the book yet. because I have done and repeated the first chapters and I feel coming back has reinforced my knowledge on the software and on the things I can do with it.I purchased the Kindle version and it's been great. But the big problem I faced was the the DVD is missing. Even though they advertised the product with a downloadable version I have not found any link to get me to the files used in the tutorials. This isn't a big deal, considering you create the files at the same time the author does. The problem is when he uses some random examples prepared ahead to explain some techniques.makes it really difficult to find an example of the ones offered in the demos gallery with similar attributes to what he uses. Even with this you can pull it off. It takes longer but you can make it.If you can get the physical book it's better I guess, not that comfortable when you are working and following the examples at the same time but you'll get what the cover pledges. The program is like having a bazooka, without a proper instruction you'll probably be able to shoot with a small gun randomly. Spend some money andin your education and you'll be investing in a brighter future having all it's necessary to use all the power the tool has to offer.ZBrush is a complicated tool to master and it requires practice and to be really committed if you want to excel. This is a great book. a flash light in long and dark tunnel. If you think you can learn on your own it's fine, but if you really want to know why things happen I have always said; ask the pros and this book was written by a master.

The Map to Get Through the Minefield
ZBrush is astoundingly powerful, and continues to get better. But its interface is a hash of components and menus and poorly chosen terms. This book will get you through that, to producing work and while understanding the interface. Crucial tips to being productive are laced all through the book, even in the introductory chapters.Note that there's another book, Introducing ZBrush 4. The titles are confusing, this is actually a newer book than Introducing ZBrush 4, this one covers ZBrush 4R3, the new stuff from R4 and R5 is easy to pick up with the base of what's in this book.

Swan-dive into Zbrush
This book dives in head-first. The very first thing you model is a dragon's head - I thought it was kind of absurd. For a very artistic, creative person, sure a dragon's head, no big deal. Personally, I just wanted to learn about all of zbrush different tools, and I couldn't even really follow along with half of the instruction, because I don't know how to use zbrush and the first thing it tries to get you to do is to model a dragon's head. Personally, I would have liked to see baby steps. A dragon's head is a bit much for me. Over the course of about 3 or 4 pages, you sculpt a sphere into a dragons head. So you can imagine that process, split into about 4 different screenshots.... it moves really quickly.I dropped this book before I finished with the first chapter because it's really challenging for someone with little 3D modeling experience. I wanted a tour of the software, and I suppose I could skim the book, but personally I need to follow along with each lesson. I couldn't follow along with the dragon head.I'm sure this book is a great resource, from the first part I followed along with I learned how the interface works and how a couple tools work, but it dives straight into really challenging modeling that I couldn't keep up with as a brand new zbrush user. I've since subscribed to digital tutors and it's working much better for me.
