You just add them to a mason jar and add 1/3 cup of milk and let them sit overnight. The ingredients include some dairy in it although it is 99% lactose free. It's a delicious way to start the day. It's already sweet with some nice hints of cinnamon in every bite. The nice chunks of apple add some nice flavor as well as texture to it. I put milk in them as directed and after sitting overnight they were still not very well cooked. It would be helpful if there were also a cooking option listed for making them with boiling water, as I imagine that would work better but I haven't tried it yet. They also didn't taste very good and had an off flavor, although recognizing that these have 15 g of whey protein added to them vs. only 3 g in the pre-prepared oatmeal bags. They tasted like they needed more salt and were on the too non-sweet side for me. Would not purchase, and definitely would never purchase for the >$3/serving (each serving is about the size of an ordinary instant oatmeal pouch from any grocery store) as the price on these was originally listed as.
