Ocean Meets Sky Review: A Gorgeous Book! - I bought this book based on the description and the picture of the illustrations. This is a beautifully designed and written large format book from the Fan brothers. I wish I had a small child to read this to. The simple story of a child building a ship to search for the place where the sky meets the ocean that his grandfather spoke about. The illustrations are colorful, and detailed. It is truly a magical book, and I will be buying more of the Fan Brothers' works. Review: Lovely story, gorgeous language and illustrations. - So beautiful, I want to rip out the pages and frame them. The story is delightful as the language is beautiful. Finn lived by the sea, and the sea lived by him. Just beautiful. Finn's grandpa has passed and Finn remembers how he always used to talk about where the sea meets the sky. So Finn builds a boat, but then takes a nap inside. He has a wonderful adventure (a book island -- look for titles you love!) until he finally gets to where sea meets sky (I swear that one boat is the Titanic). When he meets the moon, it has his grandfather's face. The brothers who wrote this book and The Night Gardener hide many little details in their illustrations so you'll want to take a good look. Good for kids and adults!

Must have!
Stunning book and beautiful story. It made me shed a tear or two lol. Got this for Christmas to give to my in-laws to keep at their place so they can read it to their grandson whenever he’s there. I purchased 2 other books from the Fan brothers and I am now a fan!

Beatiful artwork/sensitive topic
Awe, the artwork is phenomenal! But beware of the subject matter. While the fantasies and wishes of a young child are precious and innocent, this one includes his dead grandfather. Just keep that in mind as you decide to purchase this book.

The single most gorgeous children's book I've come across
The illustrations in this book are amazing. Not just the quality of them, but the creativity and vision behind them is just fantastic. The cover under thr jacket is embossed with gold and is a wonderful added treat when you find it. The story is cute as well, definitely light reading but it's the beautiful illustrations that will keep you coming back to this book. I gave it as a gift and my niece and nephew love it.

Dedicato all’elaBorazione del lutto. Facilmente reperibile in biblioteca essendo molto famoso. Semplicemente fantastico!

It's Finn's Grandpa's birthday. He would have been ninety if he was still around, and in his honour, Finn builds a boat for a journey they had planned together. Tired from the building, he falls asleep and wakes on the ocean under clouds shaped like a pipe, an anchor and a whale. Feeling lonely, Finn notices a huge golden fish with whiskers reminiscent of his grandfather's. Together they head off in search of a place where the ocean meets the sky. What follows is mystical and transcendental, with magical full spread illustrations. Finn and the fish visit the Library Islands where birds wear top hats, an island of truly giant shells, a sea full of dancing jellyfish, and then they are there. Whales, ships, hot air balloons... It is truly a place of wonder and awe. Finn sees his grandpa in the moon and manages to say goodbye before a voice calls him from the distance and he wakes up in his boat in the garden just in time to have grandpa's dumplings for tea. This is a gorgeous, fantastical story of the enduring bond of a child and his grandfather and a dreamy glimpse of what might lay beyond.
