Overall performance! or should say under performance!
I bought 4 of these for family members for ease of operation. First it does NOT put out 6 watts!!! On my watt meter thru any where in the range of 420mhz to 480mhz it does 2.2 to 1.7 watts on High power and 0.2 on Low Power into a dummy load and an antenna with a 1.02 to 1 match. Tested 420,430, 440, 2 watts 450,460,470mhz 1.7 watts Second it does NOT work with Chirp as of this date 05/14/25. There is NO BF-888HD selection and you can NOT use the BF-888 setting. You need to download from tenway.com/download there is a BF-888HD software just for it. Does have encryption NOT a voice scrambler but true encryption that you can select 13 different keys. Someone listening on the same frequency will get pure digital screeching, Now anyone with a BF-888HD could program theirs to listen to you so not that private. The battery pack is NOT inter-changeable with a BF-888, the new BF-888HD has a USB-C charging port on the battery, so that is nice you don't need the drop in Battery Charger As with any of the BF-888 these are throw away radios at less than $10 per radio. So great for kids or people who tend to lose stuff!! 3 Stars due to the over stating 6 watts. Why these companies make these statements on a radio that is WAY under the rating is disappointing!!

Have a great connection upto about a mile in the city. About 2.5 miles in the woods. Battery life is great.
