The unit is precise enough for cutting firewood to the approximate length needed. It delivers a paint spot that's about an inch in diameter. You could get the 18" wheel, and then cut on and between the paint spots for 9" lengths. **Q: Will this mark 15"** A: No. The unit comes with a wheel that will do 16", but not 15".
