Saint John, a hermit with a rough face and messy hair and beard exactly as the he is traditionally pictured in byzantine icons. The name St. John the Forerunner "Agios Ioannis o Prodromos" is written with red egg tempera in medieval Greek characters. On this piece copper gold was used on the halo and border. The item is stamped on the back with our signature stamp Eri Eka with its metal hanger.
