It does have cross-references and what is different between NKJV and the older manuscripts, but no synopsis before each book or maps or anything like that. It doesn't claim to be a study Bible, and I am rather fond of the text-only nature of the book aside from the footnotes at the bottom. The pages are a little thin for my liking, but not so thin I feel the need to complain about it. The text is still perfectly legible and I see no bleed through. Overall, this is a very nice Bible at a great price. The cloth cover is very pretty and nice fabric. I highly recommend for high school age up. The print is a bit small for my eyes these days, so anyone with visual problems might want to select something with larger print. It was delivered the next day and as soon as I held it, I realized how gorgeous it was. I love the sizing of the words, note taking sections, and version of the text, I was initially looking for an NLT bible until I realized how much I appreciate the NKJ. If you’re reconnecting with God as I currently am, I think this bible helps you to fall in love with the process of communing with Him and seeking out His word. It reminds me of my main focus right now, God led femininity, as I work to protect my heart and path according to His purpose and will for my life.
