Economical source of electrolyte
This is a very economical way to provide some of the electrolytes needed by horses. Most of my horses don't like salt blocks, so to ensure that they get the electrolytes they need, I add a teaspoon of potassium chloride and a tablespoon of sodium chloride (1:3) to their rations twice daily. This replaces what they lose, and also encourages drinking. Some equine nutritionists recommend a 1:3 ratio, while others recommend 1:2. Check with your vet.
