Great battery that looks futuristic. Only downside is that it has a proprietary charger and won't work with Dewalt chargers.

Earlier this year, I ordered a power tool made by Mellif, which was a (Tool Only), yet it was compatible with DeWalt batteries. I was truly impressed with the performance of that tool, so when I came across this battery and charger set, I ordered it immediately. With the Mellif power tool I already have, I will have a complete set.The packaging of these battery and charger is quite appealing, giving the product a fancy appearance. After taking the battery and charger out of their packaging, I had a very positive first impression. I was quite impressed with the build quality; both the battery and charger have heavy weight, and they just feel premium. The battery connects to the charger easily and securely. The charger features light indicators that show the charging status, and there is a long LED light on the side of the battery, giving it a futuristic look. The charging time was quite fast. The battery performs well with DeWalt power tools without any issues. Now that I have the complete set, I intend to use this battery and charger exclusively with power tools of the same brand.

The charger immediately recognized the Mellif battery that was included with it, but did not recognize two other Dewalt knockoff batteries. That makes the charger worthless for me since the entire purpose of having invested in the Dewalt ecosystem of tools and batteries (including knockoffs) was to have all my batteries, tools, and chargers interchangeable. I don’t want to have to remember “Oh, this charger only fits this battery” and further clutter up my workbench with different chargers for different batteries when they should all be interchangeable.I also got a different model Mellif brand charger around the same time as this one that has the same issue, so I assume this isn’t just a defect but instead a design decision. I can’t help but find the irony in a brand whose entire business model is making knockoffs of proprietary tools and batteries choosing to itself make its own tools and batteries proprietary, even within the same tool ecosystem. In the past I’ve had such great experiences with the Mellif brand so this decision really undermines my faith in the brand unfortunately.

I recently decided to purchase a DeWalt pole saw without a battery. I had an adapter for some of my other batteries, but I thought it would be nice to have a directly compatible battery and matching charger. This set has done an exceptional job so far. I don't know yet how the battery is going to hold up, but I'm confident that it will be more than adequate for my usage. If something goes wrong, I'll have the included 5 year warranty to fall back on. I don't think I normally would have gone this route, but there is a pretty significant cost savings from buying the official DeWalt batteries. I'd recommend this set and would choose it over the DeWalt set if I had to choose again.

This is great! Honestly like it more than the original batteries that came with my dewalt drill. Works flawlessly and lasts longer.

EDIT Charger only works with this battery, not real Dewalts and not other Dewalt compatible. These chargers are big and it’s a pain to have to have one for each battery. This brings my 4 star review down to 2. There is no reason the charger shouldn’t work for any Dewalt compatible battery. It needs 4 more pins to make sure each bank of a dewalt battery is balanced when charged. Because it doesn’t have these, this Mellif batter will not be optimal and won’t last as long,This is a 3rd party brand. Not an imitation. It does have a protection board but doesn’t use Samsung cells like the OEM.When using in an impact drive it has less torque than a genuine, about 85% of the torque. It doesn’t run hot and charges well so far. Not sure about protection circuits, I’m not going to short it to find out. At this price you can’t expect the original. Makes a good backup or for lower power tools. I wouldn’t use it as my mainstay.The charger doesn’t work with my other 3rd party dewalt battery. Weird.
