Just what I have been looking for.
I have been looking for a container for my watercolour paints for some time and been unable to find one. It turns out that you just need to know what it is called! This item is splendid, allowing me to arrange my mixtures of half-pan and full-pan paints as I want them and also I can make use of the fold-out pallet.

Not completely universal.
The box is ok if a bit rickety. It's fine for half pans but Irritating that some full pans pop up and are not securely held, depending on the make. So not completely universal.

Watercolour paint box
The paintbox does all I want but one thing puzzles me; it should hold 18 large watercolour pans but in fact it holds twenty one. This is not a problem though. The box is solid and well made and I am happy with it and the speed with which you got it to me.Kevin Keeley

Very good options to more expensive boxes
I was looking for a sturdy metal watercolor pallet box with options to include full and half pans. I found Jacksons Art Supplies various boxes and was intrigued as they are very reasonably priced. I ordered the 36 half or 18 full pan box to check out hte quality. When their estimated delivery date was 3-4 weeks from order date I did some research and discovered that I'd ordered internationally (darn I usually check that) I learned that the company is located in London (the package actually arrived via Sweden). The box arrived in approximately 2.5 weeks so kudos to their London or Swedish office/warehouse for fast deliveryThis box is comparable to Daniel Smith (which is a little classier in the pan holding system); Schmincke Horadam and Sennelier - all of which I own. There are a few differences: On the Jacksons box the panel which contains the metal tabs (to hold full or half pans) is removable. I was delighted to discover that below that panel are eight additional wells for creating mixes and puddles (in addition to the four on the cover).A slight precaution: The metal pan holders on this box are a bit sharp. I took a piece of very fine sandpaper and dulled the edges. This is a very sturdy, functional box which accomodates both full and half pans (purchased separately).I am very pleased with this box; the price and the fast delivery from Jacksons Art Supplies in London.

The price is very reasonable and box seems well made; however the mixing area stains badly. Otherwise would be 5 stars.

I wish this had been my first palette.
This palette is my favorite so far. Reasonably priced and flexible. As a beginner/intermediate painter I find this set-up great for using in the studio and easy to take to a class and/or work outside, therefore eliminating the adjustment to different hand-eye motions for different settings and equipment. While I am still figuring out what pigments I like best, it's helpful to have the pans rather than a palette with wells, so I can just change out a pan or 2, and still save the paint in the pan not being used for if I want to switch it back in. The size of this palette is ideal for me now as it really does hold 21 full pans, easily...not jammed in. It's not too big if I decide later to use a more limited palette by just removing all the pans not in use, but will still retain the larger mixing areas than the smaller versions of this type palette have (I have the 12 whole pan size...mixing areas are a little small). The many separated mixing wells are very helpful, the lack of them being one of the 3 things I dislike about my John Pike palette (along with portability and the wells). See photos, including one of the palette fully opened upside down so the thumb ring can be seen and one with the tray removed. I use tube watercolors to fill the pans. I bought the pans on Amazon too The Art Shop Skipton Artists Empty Whole Pans For Watercolour Pack Of 10 . and Outus Plastic Empty Watercolor Paint Pans 10 Pieces Full Pans and 10 Pieces Half Pans . Both work well in this palette. The Art Shop Skipton Artists Empty Whole Pans For Watercolour Pack Of 10Outus Plastic Empty Watercolor Paint Pans 10 Pieces Full Pans and 10 Pieces Half Pans
