Seems to work fine. You can change out the outlet if you want. I could not get the original outlet with the USB ports to install in the box due to my cable configuration with 12 gauge wire, but I really didn't need it. Just swapped it for a regular rectangular outlet and it worked fine. I used the Arlington LVDR2 2-Gang Box to run the wires into the wall. Worked great.

Nice electrical ensemble

Turns out that when you can't plug anything into it (and you can't without extreme force), you might as well not have it. In other words the electrical outlet side is utterly useless and you have to buy a new outlet that isn't tamper resistant to replace it with. I think they should say "tamper proof", or "plug-anything-into-it proof". Honestly, reading the other reviews makes me think either we just got one from a bad batch, or other people know some trick we're not aware of. I'm thinking the bad batch explanation is the most likely. I should've just returned it, but I was kind of hopeful they would just "break in" over time after forcing plugs in and out of them regularly. No dice. Bad advice. You should probably get something else.

Nice quality for the price and product

This device was just what I needed for my Home Theater setting so I could hide all the cables inside the wall, at least conceptually, so I didn't hesitate to order 2, one for my AV receiver end and one for my HDTV end, so I hired an electrician to complete the in-wall installation, and when all the work was done and I did the testing, to my disdain, the HDTV (Samsung 65-inch 4K HDR) was showing no signal from my 4K TiVO. I then ran another 4K-compatible HDMI cable directly from the TiVO output to the TV and it worked, then went to setting on the TiVO and had to downgrade the output resolution from 4K to 1080P, and switched cables again an it worked. This means I have to compromise watching all my 4k-capable video sources, including TiVO, AppleTV, FireTV and BD Player in 1080p, and I'm not happy about it, but at least I can use the TV. Problem is that from time to time the TiVO resets itself to Auto-detect output resolution and defaults to 4K and then I have to repeat the cable switching process all over again. I decided to remove the piece that contains the HDMI coupler and bypass it using a 4k-compatible HDMI extension cable on both ends to see if it fixes the issue, but then it will defeat the purpose of having this beautiful elegant solution. I hope the manufacturer upgrades the HDMI coupler part with a 4k-compatible one soon. Then I'll upgrade my review to 5 stars.
