From Slow HDD, SATA SSD to Lightning-Fast 3.0 M.2 SSD - Personal Review of the ORICO NVMe SSD
REVIEW UPDATED AS OF: august 15th 2025 Upon unboxing the ORICO NVMe SSD, the first thing that stands out is the integrated heatsink. It's a solid, well-built piece of hardware that immediately gives you confidence in its ability to handle thermal management. For any M.2 SSD, especially one advertising speeds of up to 3100MB/s, keeping temperatures in check is crucial for sustained performance and longevity. I intend on installing it on B550 Gaming-F Motherboard compatibility isn't an issues most M.2 SSDs are universal. 56$ for 1TB well worth the money! once installed i'll give an update on it's performance. INSTALLED! august 15th 2025 - M.2 SDD IS A BEAST I CAN'T BELIEVE I BEEN MISSING THIS TYPE OF SPEED AND PERFORMANCE ALL MY LIFE! The moment I installed the ORICO NVMe SSD m.2 1TB, I knew I had unlocked a new level of performance. It's like going from a leisurely stroll to a full-on sprint. The difference isn't just noticeable—it's game-changing. First boot after the installation? The Windows logo appeared and then, almost instantly, the desktop was there, ready to go. No more splash screen, no more spinning loading circles. It was pure, unadulterated speed! Launching applications now feels instantaneous. World War Z which used to make me grab a coffee while it loaded, is now up and running in a matter of seconds. My games—World War Z, DC Universe Online, Hitman-Absolution, and others—load so fast I barely have time to read the loading screen tips. In short, the ORICO NVMe SSD m.2 1TB hasn't just improved my computer's performance—it's fundamentally changed the way it processes. The frustration of waiting is gone, replaced by a smooth, seamless, and lightning-fast computing experience. If you're still on an HDD or even a SATA SSD and you're considering an upgrade, don't hesitate. This is the one you need!!

It works well with Ivanky Mac Mini M4 Dock
I needed an additional SSD for my Mac Mini M4, and I already had an IVANKY 13-in-1 Mac mini M4 Dock. so I bought this SSD for that slot. I have added it to my TimeMachine backup, and I am using it to store files I want to back up on a regular basis. My backup drive is a Samsung T7. I would have bought a larger SSD, but the prices are insanely high, and a 512gb SSD was in my price range, and would store all I currently need to store and leave room for growth. The Orico seems well built and came with two flexible heat strips, and two heatsync covers. One was called the Aluminum heatsync and the other was a thicker ridged heatsync, painted black, that they called the "Copper Heatsync". But to me, it felt like the "copper" heatsync was painted aluminum, but in truth, I really don't. know how the weight of copper should compare to aluminum. The "copper" heatsync was too large to work with the flexible strips and the SSD and allow me to close the SSD port. But the "aluminum" heatsync was the right size to allow the SSD port to be closed. The English instructions were pretty good for a set of instructions coming from China, and I had no problem seeing how this should work. It also came with a screwdriver, and an extra port screw. On the whole, I am pleased with my purchase, and will consider ORICO SSDs when this particular SSD is full. I believe I can recommend this to others.

Great for the price
Been running this as my boot drive for windows over a year never ran into an issue and the speeds are insane coming from a ssd. I highly suggest to get a budget nvme like this if your currently using ssd. Install was easy just 1 screw.

Needs the included heatsink (66C -> 49C)
First day ownership. 1st installed w/o the heatsink and ran a Crystaldiskmark 512mb (2 cycle) test. Temp in crystaldiskinfo immediately shot up to 66C. Per the box, 70C is the top of the operating temperature range. It may have gotten higher during the test (I didn't realize CDinfo had a refresh timer on the temp). I then shut down and installed the included heatsink. This was pretty easy if you have steady hands to place the thermal pads and then pinch the assembly together with the SSD in the middle. Positioning is important (don't have the heatsink too far one way or it will block the screw on one side or M.2 pins on the other), luckily you can re-position things and it doesn't damage the thermal pads. Then, I re-ran Crystaldiskmark and temps went to 46C initially and I refreshed CDinfo often and saw a peak temp of only 49C during the whole test. Much better! Performance was slightly up, too. Went from 2900 read to 3100 with heatsink. Write performance was 1900. So far, I'm pleased. Will be a secondary game drive. One head scratcher... It started with zero GB written. I ran the 2 Crystaldiskmark 512mb tests (2 cycle selected) before and after installing the heatsink and total writes is already (somehow) at 154GB which seems inflated. This is not my OS drive.. I had done nothing else with the drive but those two tests. I'll continue to monitor this as I read and write to the drive. Maybe this is normal for Crystaldiskmark testing?

Pretty solid SSD
So I have had this SSD for a few months now and I have not had any issues with it. I am very happy with my purchase. The speeds could be a little bit faster but other than that, I really don’t have any complaints. It’s doing what it’s supposed to do and I’m happy.

Slow, Cheap, Good
There’s an old rule of thumb in the software industry: if you want fast, cheap, and good, the best you’re going to do is two out of three. That’s the deal here. Like most budget SSDs, this one is PCIe 3.0 and uses QLCs. Which is fine if that’ll work for you. It’s slower than some other SSDs, and will bog down over time. But the slowest SSD is still an SSD, so you still get the inherent advantages of an SSD over a spinning disk. That’s the “slow” part. “Cheap” is self-evident … this sells at an attractive price point. And as for “good,” I’ve bought a few of these Orico drives and they’re well made and nicely packaged. Orico makes sure to include the screw for the drive, a heat sink, and even a little screwdriver. IMO this drive isn’t a bad deal if you’re not looking for top performance.

My laptop needed help; this SSD provides plenty
This SSD, along with some added RAM, has given my not-so-new Acer laptop a new lease on life. The performance boost has been terrific and its terabyte capacity should keep the Acer in business for sever more years.

Peak value for money if under 3.2k/-
Got a max of 3.5GB/s read speed. Survives high temp ~ 72c. Durable. Looks gorgeous. Playing games with constant disc reading like Dragons Dogma 2, Re4r or Wuchang might push the temperature to rise. I got 63c

Velocissimo e affidabile!
