I bought and used the strap wrench with one project in mind - to loosen the nut attaching a lawnmower flywheel to its crankshaft. I needed to do this because the shear pin had failed after striking a rock (which is what it is supposed to do to protect the motor). Needless to say the movement of the flywheel really cinched up the nut. The aluminum flywheel is about 6" in diameter and the cooling fins are a separate plastic piece so the only way to safely grasp the flywheel is with a strap wrench. I had to adjust the strap wrench a few times to get a good bite and even had to use an extension on the socket wrench on the 15/16" nut but I was finally able to loosen the nut and free the flywheel. I'm sure it was well over 20 lb-ft of torque. The bottom line is that this strap wrench worked admirably for my application and it cost far less than what a Briggs and Stratton strap wrench would have cost.
