I’ve been really impressed with the Tapo Video Doorbell D225. The wired installation was surprisingly easy and straightforward, even if you’re not super tech-savvy. Everything connected without any headaches. The video quality is excellent—clear, sharp, and reliable both day and night. It’s a big step up from what I was using before. The app is also very user-friendly. It’s simple to navigate, loads quickly, and makes it easy to check live view or review clips without any confusion. Overall, a great doorbell that does exactly what you want it to do without overcomplicating things.

Awesome doorbell camera. The 2k quality is amazing and is just right for a doorbell camera. The settings and ability to establish alert zones so I don’t get a million notifications throughout the day is nice. The speed of getting to the video when someone comes to the door is faster than my old Nest and the fact that I can spend $60 once for a micro SD card and not $80/month for years of looping video history is amazing! I have a 256GB card and I am getting 2 full weeks of history at a time that I can review if needed. The 180° angle camera is a true 180°. I can see clearly both directions out of my front door. The price can’t be beat for how robust this is and it can operate in their app for free without any cloud storage. It was easy to install and the various adapters for positioning the camera at just the right angle was super helpful. It is a tad bulky, but I can live with that since the bulk provides an internal battery that can run for weeks if ever needed (mine is hardwired so the battery backup for a true 24/7 camera is awesome. ) the fact that it isn’t tied to the cloud is nice since it never has to deal with any network reliability. All video is stored on the micro SD card regardless of WiFi connection and once WiFi is back I can review all of the video. App is very simple and easy to use, but doesn’t lack any features. Night video was better than I expected. All around a fabulous camera!

I've replaced my Ring Doorbell with TP-Link D225 to eliminate paying for Ring subscription services. I should have known that it is a superior product just because of the TP-Link brand although I didn't realize how superior until it was completely installed. It's a much more sold construction and heavier, super easy to set up, connected to the internet very quickly & strongly. Everything required for installation is included with the doorbell giving you the option of using a slight downward wedge, wedge to the side or just a flat, no wedge mount. I chose the slight downward to allow for easier viewing of packages and found that it still provides plenty of upward space to include complete tall people and higher. The battery is stated to hold charge for approx. 8 months! We'll see, it does have a larger battery than any other doorbell I researched (including TP-Link's battery only model). The D225 also provides the option of wiring the unit without the continuous need for the battery. An SD card slot will also receive a 512GB SD card (sold separately) so I always have access to the video. Once connected with Alexa, notifications come through loud and clear when motion is detected at the doorbell. Notifications are also available via messages. The only downside I find is that, when the battery needs recharging, the entire doorbell needs to be brought into the house for charging. The battery inside the doorbell can not be removed. Although, the doorbell is easily released from the mount which makes it easier. All and all, I'm very pleased with the quality of the unit & the quality of the videos that it provides. They are easily downloaded onto your phone & sent to others. The mounting instructions stated to try and keep the unite from direct sun. That was impossible for me, as the early morning sun shines right onto my front door (later NO sun) although once mounted with the downward wedge, I found that there is NO problem with the sun shining right into the lens. TP-Links quality name has shown to be accurate for the D225 as it is with many of their other products. I highly recommend this doorbell. It's a bit of an initial investment but pays off over time due to NOT needing a subscription to view your videos from anywhere.

Replaced a Ring doorbell which never quite worked right. (Voltage was a little too low for it, I think). More than anything I got tired of the annual subscription taking money (lately it's been $50/yr). This one doesn't care about the voltage and you don't have to have a subscription if you don't want to. It came online right away. Installation was straight forward except for a little trial and error with the installation plates that came with them. I ended up stacking both plates where one was for the angle caused by the siding and the other was to angle the camera towards the door a bit. The view with both plates is excellent. The functionality works really nice. Glad that when someone rings the doorbell, the app pops up on my phone and looks like a phone call coming in. That's really nice. Only thing I'd ask them to change is to have a cancel button instead of having to answer it to silence it. (Just had my first caller and I was going to walk over to open the door instead of talking through the doorbell. Would be nice to not have to answer in the app.) Another minor issue is that both my wife and I are linked to the doorbell. If someone rings the doorbell, it will ring both of our phones. If I answer it, it will continue to ring my wifes phone or vice versa. I wish they'd just silence it on both phones once it is answered in either phone - maybe with a notification that it was answered to the other phone.) I've seen this issue mentioned in forums so it is a known thing. Sound quality is good. Video quality is good. The phone software (apple iphone) is good. Nothing else to complain about. I recommend this phone without reservations.

Update: after 2 months of using it, there IS an issue I’ve discovered. At times the doorbell won’t record when someone has been in front of it. I’ll have had a package delivered but never got notified by the app that someone was there. I’ll go into the app and sure it enough it says “no recordings available”. That’s a huge flaw since that’s the whole reason someone has one of these cameras. Thank heavens it’s never been an issue yet where I needed the footage that didn’t record but I hope an update or something happens to fix this. I searched for a doorbell for probably 6 months and no I’m not exaggerating. I was strongly considering Ring but I found that there were too many negative reviews. I finally came across this doorbell and for the price and reviews, I couldn’t pass it up. To start off, it came with a wedge which normally you’d have to buy separately. It also comes with a chime where other brands have you buy separately as well. The set up was super simple and took about 5-10 minutes. The final thing that made me buy this camera was the fact that it didn’t have a subscription fee. The only reason you’d need to pay monthly is if you wanted to pay for cloud storage. It’s $3.50 a month if you want cloud storage which I will be doing so that the videos are saved on my phone/app. The picture I attached is of course the night view which I think is great. One thing I want to mention is that the picture is taken from a side doorbell. Notice how wide the angle is and I didn’t even have to use the wedge. Lastly, the app is amazing. The customization is so good! You can choose the sound that the people outside hear and you can choose the sound that plays in the house. You can customize the notifications and even how loud the sound is inside and outside. It connected to the WiFi within seconds! The quality of the camera is SO good and clear! The sound is amazing and clear as well!

Great product. Hard wired to my old door bell wiring to power it and not worry about batteries is fantastic. That then offers 24 hour coverage and a super feature that is able to show some camera footage even before the motion activation. Really clear image recorded onto a micro SD card. Lots of features to control how and what is captured. Ties in with my Alexa and iPhone to instantly alert me when bell is pushed. Very happy with this doorbell camera and highly recommend it.

Had this doorbell for 2 years, and it is still running strong, and NOT ONCE have I regretted my purchase. I mainly got this solely because I do not want to pay for subscriptions to control my camera records. I hooked mine hardwired, and it can switch to battery power if my house loses power. I do not see any doorbell camera in the market that is this capable AND at this affordable price point. I wanted to make a big note that it DOES NOT come with a microSD card. You will need to purchase these separately. These cameras can support up to 512GB. Mine is a 256GB, so I have enough for 2 weeks of nonstop recordings or a up to 6 months for event recording until it needs to loop. Camera quality: Love the picture quality, and everything looks crystal clear at 2K resolution. The alerts are on point, and having the 180-degree view is a game-changer. I can see everything from both left- and right-hand views of my property. The colored night vision is great, and it is exactly as described. Alert quality: I think we should be able to control the recording length for the event alert. Most of the recordings are only 30 to 45 seconds long, and I wish they could be slightly longer. These

Quand j'ai vu le guide de démarrage rapide, je me suis dit, "ouais, pas sûr que ça sera aussi simple...". Bien oui, c'est tellement simple... Une fois l'application en route sur mon téléphone et la sonnette en mode "ON", tout se fait pratiquement automatiquement; le plus compliqué sera de retrouver le mot de passe de votre réseau wifi, :-) Ce que j'apprécie le plus, franchement, c'est le fait de pouvoir accueillir mes visiteurs tout simplement en répondant à la sonnerie de mon téléphone. Et mes visiteurs me confirment qu'il comprennent très bien ce que je leur dis: le son est excellent, et c'est la même chose de mon côté. La seule chose qui m'a causé souci fut de trouver où se cache l'option 'antivol': il s'agit de l'option qui déclenche une alarme dans le cas où quelqu'un essaierait de partir avec votre sonnette. La documentation en ligne qui accompagne la sonnette indique que cette option se trouve dans le menu "Paramètres", mais il s'agit d'un autre modèle de sonnette... Dans le cas de cette sonnette-ci, il faut aller dans les paramètres, puis choisir "Sonnette": vous y trouverez l'option Antivol.

Just awesome battery life. Had it on the front door since late Oct 25 and there is still 44 per cent battery life after 7 months!

Antes tenia un timbre Ring, no funcionaba como debía, tenia problemas de señal débil WiFi. se perdían notificaciones. Cambie a timbre TP-Link Tapo, y ahora funciona excelente, buena imagen, capta señal WiFi sin problemas y las notificaciones son inmediatas. Muy recomendado

Montage makkelijk. Er zijn handige plaatjes bij om de bel in verschillende hoeken aan de muur te bevestigen. Ondertussen 2 weken in gebruik en batterij staat op 95%. Wel best een micro SD-kaartje bijbestellen. De binnenbel is wel enkel geschikt voor een Amerikaans stopcontact, best dus ook een stekkeradapter VS - EU bijbestellen.
