The tool worked great. i had purchased a $12 generic unit here on ebay but it did not connect. now with this autel i was able to connect and read the TCU codes and reset after changing adapter plate on 1998 S420. it was able to get the vehicle out of limp mode then it learned to shift. expensive tool and a bit long or bigger than most other adapters put there but it worked.

I’m using an Autel MK808S. This adapter works; it gave me the code I was looking for. I previously used a generic adapter. It acted like it was connected, but I got no data. It must be a proprietary thing, I guess, I don’t know.

Every car owner should have a way to tell what is wrong with their car BEFORE letting a mechanic decide what “needs” to be done. The code numbers are easily researched online and so are the probable causes. Then it’s a much more even playing field versus having to fully trust your mechanic.
