Works great in an unstable power grid. PC remains on when lights flicker and shut off.
This is my first time trying a UPS from Goldenmate. We have an unstable power grid so a UPS is a must for me. My other UPS died after 5 years and this is what I purchased(It was a cyberpower UPS, unrelated to the pc building company). It’s for a gaming PC with an RTX 3070 and ryzen 9 5900x. This UPS is 800w, under heavy gaming the load is only 450w max, so I haven’t had any issues. There was a very small break-in period where the unit smelled, I'm assuming it was the battery running for the first time. It went away very quickly. Similarly, the first few days there was a very quiet, high pitched whine when the unit was under load, it sounded like a fan. This went away and it's whisper quiet now. It's not that I'm used to it either, at the time of the review I muted my computer and listened and I can't hear a thing. It's been several months now, we have an unstable power grid and there are lots of lightning strikes which cause the lights to flicker and get actual outages from time to time. Since getting this new UPS the PC has maintained 100% up-time when it's on. It's not ALWAYS on, but when it is, it has remained stable during blackouts and brownouts. When the unit detects the power drop there is an audible but quiet beep. I gave myself enough headroom with wattage so I don't even come close to maxing out the units capabilities. For a reasonably powerful gaming PC that was stable for years before owning this UPS, this is great. I now realize that my older, now dead UPS, would sometimes fail the brownouts and not kick in, in time. I haven't had this issue with this new Goldenmate unit.

Excellent Battery Backup System
Item is well designed and works well. It switches over to battery instantly and maintains power as specified. The display shows the voltage, watts, and battery level on one screen at the same time. The system beeps softly when on battery and can be silenced by pushing a button. The fan only comes on with heavy extended use and is very quiet. Overall, it is an excellent value, especially considering the extended life of the lithium battery which is also much lighter.

Perfect battery backup
Pure sine wave output is really important. After powering on, there’s absolutely no noise, and all my devices run very stably. The LiFePO4 battery offers 230.4Wh capacity in such a compact size. The 10-year lifespan gives me great peace of mind — I no longer have to worry about replacing the battery every few years. I’ve been using it for 5 days now. It runs quietly, with normal heat dissipation and no strange odors at all. Excellent value for the price, and knowing I won’t need to change the battery for many years makes it even better!

Working good so far, but with a few minor niggles.
My house is on a gas generator, so battery backups only need to really last for at most a few minutes before the genset kicks in and powers everything. But in that moment, I need a reliable UPS for my PC and assorted electronics. The other lead acid units I've used for the last 20-odd years have been mostly reliable but when the batteries fail, it seems that 9 times out of ten the unit itself would soon experience some sort of failure, and any money spent on new batteries would be wasted. So I was eager to try this lithium ion technology as a backup device, in the hopes that it will work for long enough to offset both the added extra cost to buy and the lack of ability to replace the internal batteries. So far, so good, but I've only had it for about six months. This device is more than adequate for my main PC, which is not a gaming PC but also not a standard desktop unit. It's kind of in-between and is a higher power draw than a laptop or basic off the shelf unit would be. Since I only need backup power for at most 5 minutes, I've also added my modem and router to the device to keep internet up during short outages. So far, it handles them all without issue. I will say that on one occasion, a short power blip did seem to cause the unit to hiccup. My PC didn't shut off but the modem did. Luckily it was during an off peak time so no one was inconvenienced too much. But it still does make me wonder if it will happen again some time. The unit itself does seem to switch ever so slightly more slowly to backup power than the traditional units I've had from APC or Cyberpower. Something to consider, I suppose, if you have sensitive electronics. One worry I've had is that the unit would have an obnoxious buzzer or alarm when in backup mode. Some reviews complained about that while others seem to say it doesn't have a buzzer at all. Mine does, but it's honestly kind of a quiet, pathetic little whizzer that I can barely hear, so it doesn't wake me up annoying if an outage happens when I'm asleep. The alarm can be silenced by pressing the button on the front panel, but frankly I haven't been annoyed enough yet to even try that. The same button also does other functions so I don't really want to take a chance on hitting it for too long and shutting the whole thing down. Overall, it seems like a good device. The build quality is definitely not up to the big name brands' quality. The LCD display is a bit wonky and the bog-standard LED lights on the front panel seem like they came from some industrial machine from the 70's, but overall it's compact, quiet and has plenty of plugs on the back to power whatever, so I'm happy. Whether it lasts long enough to justify the price difference of lithium ion, though, remains to be seen.

Great UPS for moderate power needs!
We unboxed this GOLDENMATE 1000VA/800W Lithium UPS last night and were very impressed. The product looks very nice and it was packaged well, almost over-packaged when you think about the amount of cardboard that gets used. The display is bright, easy to read, and very intuitive. We charged it overnight and then tested it on our computer setup today. We have 2 computers, one large 4K monitor, and lots of peripherals. With an average load of 120 watts or so, this unit powered our setup for over an hour and used 2 out of 5 bars of battery level. I don't know if it is linear but the manual states it uses a 25.7v 9Ah battery. That's roughly 230 watt hours ignoring conversion losses. With our usage, that would give us 2 hours of run time with the power out and that's about what our first test showed. I plugged it in and out of the outlet a few times and none of our equipment even blinked so it seems robust. The best part is we NEVER heard the fan come on! Our older Eaton UPS was a great protector of our gear but the fan noise was bad enough that we had to put it in another room and run an extension cord from it. One thing to consider when you set this up is any peripherals that use large surge currents, like laser printers. In our case, the laser printer we use surges 10A or more when the internal heater comes on, and also spikes power when we print something. So, we chose to leave that off the UPS circuit. No sense wasting large amounts of capacity servicing a printer during a power outage. If you have much higher loads like this you need to protect then this product may not be big enough for you. But for our needs it's a winner. Now we can put this Goldenmate UPS right next to our other equipment and hope it will keep it all safe for a few good years. Thanks Goldenmate for a nice product!

Expensive but worth it. Better than lead acid.
Works well. Switches over quick enough it doesn't register by any of my even sensitive electronics. However one minor annoyance is it switches something every night at midnight. So you hear the some what loud click. I haven't run a full depletion cycle but did cycle it 3x from 20-90% to keep battery "healthy." And should run it under a load until 10-20% every so often to keep it in good heath. I kinda wished the display can stay on instead of timing out.

Finally an affordable Lithium UPS
All major brands like APC, Cyberpower, etc. have Lithium based UPS devices, but are price gated at a min of 800 USD, commonly 1500 USD or more, marketed for the enterprise sector only. Finally a company that brings the longevity of lithium to the consumer UPS based market at an extremely affordable price! With my current Cyberpower 1500VA/900W model, with an avg of 100w draw, i can get about 45 more mins of runtime before loses power completely. There was a year where I experienced freq outages and had to rely on the UPS to keep me online till I could get the generator started and connected to house. Also the generator would occasionally spike to 62Hz, which is outside Cyberpower and APC's sensing AC power freq, so it would stop charging, supper annoying. After a year of full drains I had to replace the battery, which avg about 1/3 the cost of the unit itself. If infrequent power loss events the batteries usually last about 2 years, 3 years if they're AGM instead of sealed lead acid based. With this Goldenmate unit the battery runtime with an avg of 100w draw lasts for almost 3 hrs! The power loss alarm is a very pleasant beep that is about 3x lower decibel than other UPSs. I'm hoping the batteries used in this unit are on the higher end and will last near the 10 year warranty mark. Since this is Lithium and not AGM based batteries, it's about 3x lighter than the comparable AGM based unit. The cons: -No USB connection for external monitoring/feature option changes with rasp pi/linux like most UPS units at this price point have had for the past 15+ years. -No way to mute the alarm or adjust it to turn on when the battery is critically low. -Spacing issues on the 8 plug model, in order to connect a large voltage regulated plug (e.g. cellphone charger) I have to use a power strip, or partially cover another plug. -Power the unit on and off is a simple push, rather than a push and hold for 3+ seconds, which makes it possible to accidently power down if something accidently knocks into it. Overall this is an excellent consumer UPS, if it just had some of the industry standard features mentioned in the cons section, this would easily be a 5 star product. To those wondering how to dismantle this unit it's put together using tabs, so just use a shim to pop them then the cover slides off. Although the power loss alarm is quiet, it gets annoying to hear for 3hrs, so I had to get into the unit to disable it. 3 Weeks later updated from 4 to 1 star review. I live off grid, when anything with an initial high AMP draw like a water pump or AC unit kicks on, everything attached to the goldenmate stays on except for my PC for some reason. My other UPS didn't have that issue. Also after about 2 weeks, I hear a noticeable buzzing sound, it's slightly loud than my PC fan. This usually indicates that either the voltage regulator is about to fail or is of subpar quality, either way it's super annoying. But the number 1 thing I need it to save is my PC during a power surge/outage event which it fails to provide. Since it's SO much cheaper than any other lithium based UPS, I'm going to exchange it, I'm hoping this is just a dud. I will update later. 12/2/24 update - 1 star to 4 stars There was no option to exchange the original unit I purchased from August, so I returned it for a full refund. They had a cheaper deal directly from them vs their Amazon store for Black Friday so I ordered 3 of them and and got an extra $9 off each for bulk discount. They were shipped much faster than when I originally ordered though Amazon in August 2024. The current model has had an improvement revision compared to the previous unit I bought in August; the newer unit's power button has been changed from standard on/off to a multi-function button. So now there's no accidental power switch bump power loss, it's a 3 sec hold delay. A single press temp mutes the buzzer during power loss and fault code errors. They also added a proprietary serial port for troubleshooting - Unfortunately, I can't find any documentation on consumer usage, seems to be a factory only service serial port. To add to the con list, they should implement extra app based controls to help prolong the life of the battery, or implement some hard coded limits like unit shutdown at 10% battery life. 12/14/24 update - Zero post-sale support - 4 stars to 2 stars 2 of the 3 units I ordered direct work perfectly, the 1 that doesn't, after ~2 weeks of great performance, it auto-shutoff with the error USO, which is an error referring to an overload. The directions to resolve this error are to turn off the unit, unplug all devices, turn unit on and plug in devices 1 by 1. I found out that mine is defective, I plugged in a monitor that was using 1watt, then a phone charger using 15w, and various other devices, they all singularly caused the USO error. I emailed them at [email protected], it's been 3 days now and no response, it's the weekend now, I'm going to give them till Monday to respond, after which I'll start a dispute with Paypal. Any year length warranty means nothing when they ignore your support requests... Buy at your own risk to it becoming a paper weight in 1 year. 12/18/24 update It took them 1 biz week to respond. My unit is clearly defective and their expert instructions were to try all the things in the manual that I already did, and when that doesn't work, leave the unit off and unplugged for a week then try again... In conclusion, they really don't want to ship a replacement nor do they want to issue a refund... AGAIN, BUYER BEWARE! I've opened a dispute with Paypal. 2/20/25 update - 2 stars to 3 stars In conclusion out of the 3 units bought 2 of them work great still, the other 1 is a dud. Thankfully Paypal saw through their back and forth BS and Goldenmate's unwillingness to honor their own warranty, I was able to get my money back for the 1 defective unit. If you bought via Amazon then unfortunately your SOL if you have an issue after 30 days, because they are the stereotypical CN scam company when it comes to warranty honoring. Today, Goldenmate is still the only company that provides a lithium based UPS at a great price targeted for the average consumer's market, I would buy again, BUY VIA THEIR OFFICIAL SITE AND WITH PAYPAL ONLY SO YOU HAVE OVER 30 DAYS BUYER PROTECTION, plus they offer volume discounts for 2+ - Otherwise you're risking throwing away $159 - $200 (amazon only pricing) each.
