ORICO NVMe SSD 1TB M.2 with Heatsink, Up to 3100MB/s PCIe Gen3x4 2280 Internal Solid State Drive, SLC Cache 3D NAND, Compatible with Laptop and PC Desktops -J10

These were very cheap when I bought them (Autumn 2025). I use them as OSD devices in my Ceph cluster - nothing heavy duty - a bunch of containers running home automation and home lab stuff. The are wedged into Dell Optiplex USFF micro PCs so cooling is less than optimal. They perform well, they very rarely head north of 50 degrees, and have been in constant use - albeit very light write activity - for 6 months, with no issues.

So far so good... Installed as a replacement/upgrade SSD and all woring fine. Purchase back in Novemeber but only now got around to installing. Noted this cost me under £50 and now would cost twice as much so good value for the purchase at the time

bought as a cache drive for my pc and it just works. item arrived well packaged and in good condition. installation was simple and once formatted it just works. an inexpensive 1TB drive that gives solid IO speeds without the huge price of the cutting edge. happy with my purchase would buy again.

These have poor firmware. After 8 months of medium usage (7% wear usage reported), mine developed a bad sector. Normally these get mapped out transparently by the firmware, but with this it does not happen either automatically or with the correct commands to do so. This means that any attempts to read/write to that bad sector leads to long timeouts or even hard lockups. This can make the entire disk unusable. More evidence of poor firmware is that smartctl -a reports my bad drive as in perfect health despite this issue, and also the Model field just reads "ORICO". I suspect the firmware is designed to conceal problems, or is just very low quality. Others have reported Orico nvme drives as providing zero smart data at all.

Upgraded an older system to slightly faster storage. Can’t speak for reliability as only had the drive 2 days. 512GB advertised model is ~475gb after formatting for NTFS in Windows, but verified in h2testw to be a true capacity. The in-box heat spreader, while ultra slim and compact is just two stamped bits of metal, would recommend getting something a bit beefier, as I recorded controller temps of up to 80c during initial verification in the aforementioned initial capacity test. I put a Thermalright HR-10 Pro on it (super cheap at the time) and the temp doesn’t go above 40c now, even under heavy load, although this may be overkill for your form factor or use case. Functionality wise, boot speed was less than 10 seconds to login screen, roughly 30 seconds to desktop. Not blazing fast by any stretch of the imagination, although my results here are from a board running at Gen 3 speeds (z97 chipset). The CrystalDiskMark tests I’ve uploaded are from after fitting a beefier cooler. Preset was NVMe optimised, all defaults real-world and peak performance tests. At 30 quid, I’m happy with it and would say it’s value for money as long as it stands up in the reliability factor!

I managed to purchase this 256gb nvme drive when it was priced just over £15, so excellent pricing. It was simple to install and it has performed well and to its specification, so no complaints, really good value.

Great value 2TB SSD for my daughter’s laptop. Arrived in 36 hours! Cloned the Hard Disk and replaced with new one, in time for her next uni project. Works like a dream. Thank you Amazon and Seller.

Super Price to Performance with these Orico Units. Not quite the full bandwidth of PCIe 3, but not too far off, plus the extra in the box, heatsinks etc are a real boon!

Montato come drive secondario su un Lenovo Thinkpad P51 per metterci sopra Linux Mint. Io lo trovo veloce quanto basta, ora è li da più di un anno usandolo quotidianamente più di dieci ore e non ha dato problemi. Lavora tranquillo alle velocità promesse. Ne prenderò altri, sperando di poterli montare tranquillamente sui miei Apple Mac per quanto riguarda la compatibilità, ma non credo che ci saranno problemi.
