Excellent
I bought the shorter version. If you are used to a cork grip this takes a little getting used to. I am going to wrap the grip with the stuff tennis players put on their racquet handles. The rod stays put when using it at one of the shorter positions.I have used it mostly in a warmwater lake for bass and panfish. I routinely ignore the Tenkara received wisdom about tippets and use 1X and/or 6 pound fluorocarbon with no ill effects. I've hauled four and five pound largemouth bass up, with extra weight from the vegetation they dived into.On the Housatonic and Esopus, I have caught decent-sized rainbows and browns (16 inches and up) with this rod, no problem. The only thing I don't like about it is it sticks too far out of my chest pack/backpack when collapsed. I had to backtrack half a mile in the woods when I realized it wasn't there. I usually carry a Tenkara rod in the pack and a fly rod in my hand. I need to find a better way to carry the former, at least this one.I don't think much of the plugs most rods come with, so I have invested in universal caps for all my fixed-line rods.
