Do I have to connect the Type C power supply port on this product every time I use it ?

Yes, when connecting 2 or more hard drives, the signal transmission of the hub will be very stable when connecting to the Type C power port. Otherwise, the connection will be disconnected. So please be sure to connect this Type C power supply port.
