Unique offering, excellent value
There’s really nothing like it. If you’ve ever wanted to play with gobos, but you didn’t want to spend the money this is absolutely perfect. The torch is heavy and well made. With tripod mount and very versatile, with plenty of basic controls. It’s super easy to use, good battery life, comes with anything you would need to get started. There’s just a big caveat:: The brightness is not the best, as expected for the price and size of the equipment. You can still get good pictures in low light, you just need to lower your expectations. I originally chose to give it four stars, but really, for the price, I think it’s just perfect for those who can’t afford the expensive setups.

Not the Brightest, but Solid
This light resembles a standard torch, but is fatter. It’s made of aluminium and is built like a tank. If dropped, it will hit the floor with a thud because it’s a solid light. The screw threads for mounting are very handy. The zooming in and out feature gives you different sized frames for the shapes that they give you. They look good when projected behind you in one of the led colours or just white. The white possibly isn’t 5600K. I found myself adjusting the camera colour temperature higher to warm the image up. If you use the white light as a ‘main’ or ‘boosting’ light, it’s not that bright. My little Falcon F7 is brighter. The Smallrig light isn’t bright enough to use as fill in on a sunny day. The light gets overwhelmed. Much better indoors. Also, the projected light is round so depending on your lens, you might get a vignette effect from the round spot that it produces. It’s really nice as an effect for the background, to get a shape projected behind you but for the price, it would have been nice it it was a little brighter so that it could double up as a main light if you needed a bit more. Battery life is very good. I had mine on for three hours at full whack. Not a lot of heat is generated either. Really good for portable things where you might want to light something and put it straight back in your bag. You don’t have to worry about heat. After three hours, it was just slightly warm. So overall, it’s a nice ‘effect’ light and can work well close up to your subject. The projected image and the cool running over a long period are the only benefits that it has over my Falcon F7’s. The Falcons are brighter. They are rated at 12W rather than 10W so really, they should be similar. They’re not. The Falcon also offers a ton of colours where this offers just 4 with a clumsy hood to hold shapes that are projected. I’m not sure that it’s good value, because it’s built beautifully but as a light, it’s a bit lacking.

Small, strong, bright!
I haven’t used to for anymore than testing right now but very sturdy as you might expect. Easy to use! Very bright and I know it’s going to have an effect on shining it through glass etc. quite light, a good size and a nice backup hair light for portraits.

Greta value supplementary light.
Nice, ergonomic light with 4 colours and good battery life. Not the brightest light but a good addition to the bag to enable some additional creative options.

Small heavy and well built but not very bright.
The control switch is a bit awkward to turn the light on. Once on the controls are as expected and easy to adjust the brightness and colour of the light. Fairly compact size, very heavy and solidly made. Sadly the light is not very bright even at it's brightest setting. Probably won't be as useful as I had hoped. Fortunately I bought it when it was on offer.

Great value, build quality and incredibly easy to use.
Great value for money, very easy to use and really nice build quality. For the price I think you're getting a great piece of kit that can be stored in a camera bag easily and in a pinch can come in handy for a variety of situations. It's not incredibly bright but I bought it knowing it was primarily going to be used as a specialty light for creative shots and background lighting. I would have liked to see it come with a small plastic case to store the gobos but understandably it doesn't so I would suggest buying a little case to store them.

Ormai è sempre con me.
