It has been used almost daily since day one and it has held up well.Few things to note:1) due to the high use the control box took a beating and eventually broke. The company sent me a second one with no problem.2) Also due to the amount of use and constant movement from room to room and even home to home (I loan it out to people who want to try it) anyway, the stones have begun to break free of their individual compartments. I know this is user fault so I am conveying this to help u not make the same mistake. I hope to get guidance from the company on how to fix this~ the mat still works I just have to move the stones back into place.Now… this is important. I purchased the updated version for my adult daughters Christmas gift 2021. It was hard to drop so much on a heated mat, since it's so similar to much cheaper mats/blankets, but so far I'm glad I spent the money. It is much more effective at relaxing tight muscles, due to the more even heat distribution. One it heats up, the stones radiate heat and provide a nice even muscle relaxing warmth. Gets very hot, much hotter than I normally need, which is another big plus. I've found heated blankets for example generally are very weak and take a long time to heat up, this does not.I cannot comment on any claims about special properties of gemstones, negative ions, etc...
