Beautiful Book. Is a good reference book while sewing. Makes sewing trims really easy.

The tittle of the book is very misleading; doesn't teach you how to make trims, but how to apply trims. Big difference there. I really thought there would be one or two trims I could learn to make from this book, as you can see I really didn't have much expectation. Looking at the cover you imagine the author would teach you to make lace applique like things and stitch on the edges of the garment, but that isn't so. Instead you'll find ugly rikraks and outdated things to sew on, by the self confessed Chanel obsessed author. This book should have been part of her other Secrets from a Chanel collector series..Such a rip off! Any good sewing or tailoring book would give you ideas about how to work with trims. The book is full of pictures of hideous, old fashioned jackets. The book also includes a CD.

Really useful book if your big into sewing. Great photos and very clear instructions for each technique of which there are many.

I own quite a few sewing books, but this truly exceeded expectations. It does not have information on creating trims (I would recommend "Fine Embellishment Techniques: Classic Details for Today's Clothing" if you are looking to create your own trims). What it does provide is detailed instructions on how to choose and apply trims. The DVD is well made and I really enjoyed watching the author work. It includes over 2 hours of instruction - making the book price suddenly seem like an amazing deal!
