Are the blades simply welded or rivetted to the central rod?

I used it for almost 6 months and a set of blades came off from the rod while scraping. It is not properly welded

How does it stay on a a flat surface while we scrapre? Is it heavy enough or does it have a vacuum bottom?

It do have vacuum. You have to place it on a flat surface & lock it from the right side bottom handle by putting pressure from top
