The big advantage of the Concord Grill is that you are not squeezing the sandwich so there is no spillover and the sandwich gets done just right. The cheese melts just enough and the sandwich is almost immediately ready to eat. In case of the old sandwich maker, the closed pockets that get created insulate heat and fool you from outside (burnt our tongues more than once). Finally, there are only a few crumbs left in it and it is very easy to clean.
