To cut the polystyrene the way I wanted I needed a tool that could cut it in depth, and this did the job. Now my sculpture is fully protected with handmade packing. The tool is great, it warms up quickly (5 to 10 seconds) and when you stop holding the button it turns off and after a few seconds you can start modelling the wire again without burning your hands. It is very easy to control. The power cable is not removable from the handle and the end plug connects to a different socket than normal power adaptors, so be careful, if you are not an electrician you won't be able to use a different power supply model. You do need to get the original Proxxon power supply. The price advertised currently (June 2014) is £32.95, but I had to pay £61.84 as I added the Power Supply and delivery. Quite pricey but there was no other option, I couldn't find a cheaper one with good reviews. I recommend buying the product and the power supply from the same seller so you save on delivery. Mine came from Germany but it arrived quickly in 2 business days.
