## Overview

The FULI Japanese Tatami Mattress is a full-sized, foldable mat made from authentic Japanese Igusa rush grass. Lightweight and compact, it folds easily for storage, combining traditional craftsmanship with modern ergonomic benefits for a serene, nature-inspired sleep experience.

## Description

Bring the comfort and tradition of Japanese tatami into your home with the FULI Japanese Tatami Mattress. Made in Japan using natural igusa rush grass, this slim, foldable tatami mat is designed to create a firm, breathable base for a Japanese futon. It differs from a traditional thick tatami floor and is easy to set up, fold, and store. The natural rush-grass structure absorbs moisture and allows air to circulate, helping create a comfortable floor space through the seasons. Its firm surface supports a stable Japanese-style sleeping setup without adding plush mattress-like softness. Place the tatami directly on a hard, flat floor and lay the futon on top. When not in use, fold the mat into sections and store it in a closet or against a wall to maximize bedroom space. Natural igusa brings a subtle grassy scent and calming texture to the room. Slight differences in color and weave are natural, and the surface may gradually change color with light exposure. Air the mat regularly in a shaded, well-ventilated area and keep it dry. The clean, minimalist design works well in Japanese-inspired bedrooms, guest spaces, meditation areas, and relaxation zones.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Hi - would this be recommended for use as a yoga mat? Is the surface slippery?**
A: Introductory class yoga for the purpose of relax is not slippery. Full-fledged yoga for intermediate or higher classes is not recommended due to slipping feet. Because the direction of the tatami stitch is parallel to the longest side of the tatami.

**Q: What is the weight for the twin? it shows 7.65 pounds, but the weight for the larger twin xl only shows 6.5 pounds.**
A: We rechecked the weight of the items itself (not the shipping weight). Twin is 6.3Lbs and Twin XL is 6.9Lbs. It is possible that the notation was the shipping weight. We will fix the display. Thank you very much.

**Q: Will the grass smell of the mat attract rodents like mice and rats?**
A: It smells of natural grass. This is a favorite scent for Japanese people as if they were bathing in the forest. However, some people who are not accustomed to smelling may find it unpleasant.

**Q: Is this comfortable enough to sleep on by itself or does it need a mattress with it?**
A: Sleeping only on tatami mat feels stiff, so it is not recommended. If you just want to relax or sit down, you can just use the tatami mat. If you sleep at night, you need to lay a futon mattress on the tatami mat.
