great little netbook
I purchased this Acer Aspire One Happy netbook after looking at other ones on the net, this was by far the best buy and with a N550 processor. The colours are lovely and cheerful, having a white keyboard is far better to see than black, especially at my age!Android is quite good , it saves you waiting for Windows to start up, there you can look at your e-mails , view your photos , music, though myself I prefer using Windows , but thats just a personal thing , younger users will probably love it, the best thing about it is that its so light, straight into my bag no problem , connects to my daughters wi-fi instantly as well.Being a 6 cell battery , it lasts a long time 5 to 6 hours, but thats with surfing and the media player going at the same time.I am a great fan of Acer, I have an Acer laptop and another Acer netbook, and my husband and daughter and two grandsons all have Acer Happy netbooks, in my opinion you can't go wrong, they are very reliable , easy to set up and come in great colours , if you want value for money get this netbook, I don't think you will be disappointed, I'm sure they made a mistake with the price, the N550 processor is dearer than the other processor the N450 which is installed in other versions , grab it while you can .

Handy
It's not the best performance but for travel or other leisure it is compact and easy to carry. I can advise to use a flash memory to use as additional RAM.

Far exceeded my expectations
This a great bit of kit. I've been using computers since the BBC micro, and this is the most practical, least fiddly one I have ever used. Rather than this being a satellite to my desktop and laptop, I now hardly use them. With an arc keyboard and mouse, and a monitor on my desk this is now my desktop. As a university lecturer come cyclist, I just put this in my rucksack - it's so light I find myself checking the computer's really there. The upgrade to windows 7 home premium allows me to use the dual core while giving my powerpoint presentations. It plays videos with only an occasional judder, displays all my scientific PDFs and journals in colour, works well with Skype including video and has its good quality video camera. Music playback is not bad through X-mini speakers. The downside is that it is noticeably slower in processing, but not dramatically, and I forgive it for that as it saves me so much time in other ways. You may have noticed I am not a gamer - I wouldn't recommend it for that.

Pretty pleased
I bought the D255 after having dabbled with a smaller screen netbook (Acer Aspire One ZG5). The ZG5 was OK after I ditched Linpus for Ubuntu but after a while the screen was just a tad too small, the processor too slow and it couldn't run Windows due to its solid state 'HDD'. I've had the D255 for about 6 months by now and overall, I'm very happy with it. I don't use the pre-loaded Android as it's too early a version to be any use (no Apps store, for one thing). However, it's still available as I now triple boot, having used Wubi to install Ubuntu 11.04 and so have the best of both worlds - Windows 7 Starter for those things I can't avoid using Windows for and Ubuntu for everything else. The machine is just about fast enough for most things but it struggles replaying the 720i videos recorded by my Panasonic camera (drops a lot of frames). All other video content seems OK though. Battery life is about four hours (not the eight claimed) but it's lightweight and excellent for travelling. WiFi performance is good. When the warranty runs out, I'll probably increase the RAM but I haven't noticed any issues with only having 1GB.

Dreadfully slow.
Dreadfully slow. To the point where it's not usable. Wouldn't buy again, even at a reduced price. Good size, weight and battery life, but almost unusable with Windows 7.

ACER D225 NIGHTMARE
I did not buy this from Amazon but have bought plenty of items from them.Do not buy this product!! The screen is prone to break very easily and Acer will not honour the warranty. Despite my D255 showing no sign of "trauma" the screen has broken internally, Research this problem on line and you will see a plethora of buyers having the same gripe.I used my D255 heavily for seven monts for working away and leisure and went through many recharging cycles - I would say 12 months average use, squeezed into seven months. If I could give a zero star rating I would.

Perfect Portability.
This 10.1 inch netbook is my third Acer laptop all of which are in use currently and none of which has given me any problem - something I could not say about a very expensive laptop I had from another very well known manufacturer. It works perfectly albeit more slowly than a more powerful product. It goes with me whenever I am on the road but I have yet to test the battery to its limits.I suppose the light colours - Hawaii Blue and White - will look a bit grubby through time and use but, at the moment, those potential drawbacks are outweighed greatly by the the machine's panache. It is a machine that always draws interest from others with more dreary looking products.Every time I return to my 15.4 inch Acer Travelmate it feels huge in comparison so that I am tempted always to ask myself why do we need such big machines anyway?!!!

Great little PC
I forgot to review this at the time.Great little PC, goes all over the world with me, even when touring on my motorcycle, does everything I need whilst on my travels. Great battery life.It got dropped once and the screen cracked. This was easy to fix with a cheap OEM replacement from a firm in Manchester.I've since installed additional memory, a Samsung 250GB SSD, and upgraded the OS to Windows 8 Professional. The memory and SSD speeded things up, which is just as well as Windows 8 is more resource hungry than Windows 7 Starter edition. That battery life is a bit less than with the original installation but still get over 6 hours.I keep getting tempted to buy an iPad, but this does it all and more.
