Great E-Reader
These are great devices. We bought them for the whole family this Christmas to make reading more entertaining. The kids have really enjoy picking books online and being able to read them instantly. They were refurbished so I always have concerns but they work flawlessly. They are durable, light weight, and easy to use. These were a great buy for our family. We have no complaints with these devices.

Instantly inoperable after updating
I was excited to buy thus refurbished model. 105$ instead of $200 was a great deal. Followed the directions. Plugged in to charge. After updating the device froze and became inoperable... will be returning and just buying new.

A nice big ebook reader
A nice big ebook reader for my old tired eyes! The only reason for 4 stars is because it has a slight dark shadow in one corner for the back light. It's not bad enough for me to return it though.

A great value for preventing “reading emergencies”.
I love ane reader and have enjoyed my Nooks for several years. On occasion one dies an unnatural death. I may have dropped it while soaking in the tub or some other abuse I tend to heap on my devices. At the price for these reconditioned ones I don’t panic as badly as I might, otherwise. Is the episode panic free? No. I must have something to read at any given moment. I MUST be able to read in bed before I go to sleep or in the middle of the night, if I’m awake. At the point that my previous Nook stops working, I fuss around trying to coax it to live again, I order a replacement, then wait for it to come, I have a true “reading emergency”. Thank God for Amazon Prime! It prevents full on breakdowns. The set up is easy, I don’t lose my saved books, and can pick up where I left off in just enough time to rescue the box from a coarse addicted dog who watches for deliveries, rip the box open and plug in the new one. As soon as it is charged I can get going again, and am a happy camper. Speaking of that, I have had to have an order sent to another address when I am truly camping. The transition is smooth,, with relatively low drama, and the reading emergency is over. The most recent time I ordered an extra as backup for when the inevitable happens.

Exactly what I expected
Device showed up early, and was exactly as I expected. So far (first week of use) so good. Fits the need, looks new and works fine.

Lacks basic screen lock passcode, anyone can look through your library.
Nice screen size, decent display. However, it lacks the basic functionality of a screen lock with a password or code. Your library is open to anyone who happens to pick up your device. The B&N account can be locked from purchasing, but seem ridiculous that in this age of privacy protection and security such a basic requirement is overlooked. Returning this, hopefully they get serious with the next iteration as a modern consumer device.

Improvement to reading
Super easy set to set up. Holds a good charge. It's a very light device. 10/10 me and my girlfriend love it and have been reading more bc of it

Nice ereader!
I have owned every model of Kindle since the very first one was released. I have become concerned at Jeff Bezos’s politics and am reducing my spend on his businesses. This is a decent product, it generally works well but from time to time simply locks up and has to be reset. On some books, it doesn’t save your place so you have to tag your page. But, the design is simple and lightweight.Ordering books through its ecosystem is easy, but there’s very different choices of books.I’m not yet convinced this the way to go, though. I may buy a small tablet and use that with my library’s ebook lending instead.
