## Overview

The NIKKOR Z 35mm f/1.4 lens is a premium wide-angle prime designed for Nikon Z mirrorless cameras, featuring a fast f/1.4 aperture for exceptional low-light performance and stunning shallow depth-of-field. Its silent STM autofocus and compact form factor make it ideal for both photographers and videographers seeking sharp, painterly images and smooth, quiet operation. ## Description

The NIKKOR Z 35mm f/1.4 lens is a natural wide-angle lens with a large f/1.4 aperture that cuts through low light and creates dramatic shallow depth-of-field. Ideal for landscapes and street shots, portraits and groups, it gives you beautifully blurred backgrounds along with edge-to-edge clarity and sharpness. A close focus of just 10.6 inches lets you reveal fine details. This is a lightweight and compact lens designed for the photographer or filmmaker.

Review: Excellent lens! - This isn’t the “S” lens, so do not expect perfection, but it is great for the price. Some CA is sometimes present and the contrast is a bit soft wide open, but it does provide a nice “3D pop” and the imperfections actually give it a bit of character. If you want to use it for landscape, just aim for F8 and the corners are perfectly sharp on my 24MP Zf.
Review: A 35 1.4 with character. - I bought this to be a part of a 2 lens portrait kit, to be paired with the 85 1.8s. The 35 1.4, while not an "S" lens, is still plenty sharp and renders beautifully. It's not as well corrected as it's "S lens" brothers, but that makes it a perfect lens for someone who likes a lens with "character". It does have chromatic aberrations, but these days, it's easy to fix in post. If you are looking for a Z mount 35, I highly recommend this one.

## Features

- Painterly bokeh. Background objects can be transformed into compositional elements; points of light into smooth, soft circles.
- Video workhorse. The compact size of the lens is ideal for use on a gimbal; the silent STM lens drive minimizes operational noises for fast, silent autofocus and suppressed focus breathing.
- Low-light freedom. Capture more details at lower ISO and use faster shutter speeds with a wide f/1.4 aperture.
- At home on all Z series mirrorless cameras. The full-frame/FX format NIKKOR Z 35mm f/1.4 lens has a 52mm equivalent field of view on an APS-C size/DX format camera.
- Close focus. Lens focuses as close as 10.6 inches from the subject for revealing details.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ If you're looking at this, then the answer is yes.
*by A***N on September 10, 2026*

Excellent excellent glass. I always prefer true Nikon glass and this is a clutch 35 lens. The 1.4 is amazing. With this 35 I'm okay with it not being an S. I use this primarily for video. To find differences in this and the S, I would honestly be nitpicking. This is a great lens. If you're looking for something not kit, add this to your bag.
