Rating reduced accordingly. Bought these to connect NAS to laptop between floors, which are capable of saturating a gigabit ethernet connection (100MByte/s) but 20m of cable up the stairs is unacceptable :) Set-up is very simple - best way is to plug both into a power strip so you can hit the "pair" buttons at the same time. Once paired, you can then plug them into the desired location... always remembering to deploy them in a wall-socket, not power-strip. However, there are two issues: First is the speed - even sat in adjacent sockets, the speed tops out at ~27MB/s, so between a quarter and a third of the claimed gigabit speed. In the intended locations, it barely reaches 10MB/s Second is the support section of the website. I hoped to find a firmware update or some kind of config tool to tweak the connection. Unfortunately, the only offering under "software" is a link to a .img file on sharepoint.com which won't mount as a disk image, nor can I find an app to open it. I don't even recognise the headers in a hex editor!
