The color fits my setup’s vibe really well, and the sounds it makes are satisfying. The ways to connect the keyboard to other devices all work well (USB-C wired, bluetooth USB dongle, and proper bluetooth wireless). The customization for lighting is pretty standard. I wish the keycaps allowed light to shine through the letters/numbers instead of just being backlit. Knobs are satisfying and the volume knob works without drivers on linux machines.

I’m absolutely in love with this keyboard! The typing experience is so smooth, and it makes a very satisfying 'clack' sound that's not too loud but gives great feedback. The build quality feels very sturdy and premium, and the color scheme is unique and looks fantastic on my desk. I appreciate having both the volume and brightness knobs; it’s a small detail but super convenient. I’ve tried a few mechanical keyboards, and this one is by far my favorite. Highly recommend it to anyone looking to improve their setup for work or gaming.

After disassembling it, I confirmed there's no added metal to artificially enhance the weight, which speaks to its authentic build quality. Performance & Features The included cream switches are smooth, linear-activated, and comparable to MX Reds, providing a comfortable typing experience. Since the M87 is hot-swappable, I replaced the stock switches with MX Blues for that satisfying clicky feedback. Battery life is solid—about two weeks on a full charge using the wireless dongle. Connectivity is a strong point, with tri-mode options: 2.4GHz wireless, Bluetooth, and USB-C wired. Switching between these modes is seamless. The RGB backlighting looks vibrant and pairs nicely with the keyboard's color scheme. Final Thoughts Overall, I’d rate the RK M87 4.5 out of 5. First and foremost the color scheme of white, red and black match my PC's color scheme to the "T". So needless to say I love the color. I usually do a lot of research on items before buying and this one was a tough one, not a lot of reviews outside of Amazon. However, I am so happy that I made the purchase. For the last 2 years I've used Logitech 's MX Keys (100% board). I made the purchase back then based off the reviews, and it made sense since I already owned the MX Master 3 (mouse). No matter how much you research into Logitech MX keys, nothing prepared me for the crap quality of that board. I don't use a desk, my PC is in the bedroom thus (when in use) the keyboard sits on my bed. My bed is really low to the ground, I say about 3 feet up. After dropping it onto my rug a couple times, the entire thing came apart. So much for the metal finish, which is actually some sort of plastic that is made to look like metallic. Keyboard costed $120 before tax. Now back to the Royal Kludge M87. The build quality can be felt the moment you take it out of the box. This thing is heavy! Yes it's a 70-75% board but it has some weight to it. I love it. I'm an 80's baby that grew up with 90's tech. So when I started to type on this thing the sound brought back so many memories. Not only does it sound great, but pressing onto they keys is highly satisfying. I plugged in the 2.4ghz dongle, scrolled through the menu options via the second wheel and clicked. BOOM! instantly connected. Works amazing! Started to play with the lighting options and man, this thing exceeded my expectations. If you like unicorn vomit, this keyboard offers it. However, I personally like 1 unified color and they have plenty of options to choose from. I am in no way shape or form a keyboard enthusiast. Meaning if you want something great that is just going to work out of the box, look no further! Royal Kludge offers mechanical keyboards at a decent price (that isn't priced gouged out the wazoo) reliable and built to last. I never heard of Royal Kludge until recently when I started to research mechanical keyboards to replace my poorly constructed Logitech key board. I am so happy I've made this purchase. Best part of it all, I got it for $69.99 before tax. Logitech can kick rocks, my money will be going to RK if I ever find myself back in the market. I will highly recommend this to anyone and everyone looking for a mechanical keyboard!

I bought 2 of these keyboards. Not because I love it that much but because the first ones battery stopped charging shortly after owning it and I had to keep it plugged in. That shouldn't deter you from this keyboard though, as it didn't deter me from continuing to own it. The keys are perfectly spaced, the switches are smooth and have the right amount of resistance, look great and the functionality of it is great as well. It has a dedicated calculator key on it that I ended up using very often and I loved it. I decided to buy the same one because I wanted to be wireless again and after buying the same one I had learned the first unit was just a dud, this one worked fine. I sadly had to refund this keyboard because due to new employment, I stay up all night on my days off gaming and my SO can't sleep due to the sound, so I returned it before I become single again. Great keyboard for any use case, perfectly priced, and im sure my problem with the first unit being a dud is a one-off situation because I don't hear of anyone having that issue. Buy this keyboard, you won't regret it.

(New info in edit below) Keyboard is great, however, I never used the keyboard wirelessly so I never noticed that the battery never charged or stopped charging in some point of its life. Always shows zero with a charge cable. Can’t get answers or support from Rk directly. Edit: 1/1/2026 - Finally received an answer back from RK support and they informed me they can’t assist. So I took it upon myself to open up the keyboard. Took out my meter and started testing the components on the usb interface board. Everything checked out, almost. The white wire connection showed zero voltage, but the red showed 4.1v. I disconnected the battery from the board and tested the connector to see maybe the jst connector isn’t crimped correctly but still read zero voltage. I removed the battery packs and started to check them to ensure the wires are connected. No, the white wire wasn’t connected at all. So, I reported back to support and they told me again nothing they can do but offer a discount on a new keyboard. However, the discount is the same price as the sale here on amazon. I told them no thank you. This was clearly a factory issue and I will not take another chance on their boards. It’s a lipo battery and if these short they can catch fire. I was going to order two new keyboards - one for myself and one for my son, as we both got new computers. But now I have to look elsewhere. To future buyers, check all features before the warranty expires!!! My fault on not doing this.

Absolutely love this keyboard, have had no issues what so ever with the connection, the instructions are a little confusing but if you get the app on your PC for the keyboard, uploading a GIF, personalizing the lighting is a breeze. the keyboard is sturdy and heavy. Size makes gaming easier for my smaller hands, and the buttery clicking is music to my ears. 10/10 will be buying from Royal Kludge again. I will highly recommended this keyboard for an aesthetic touch to your study / office / gaming - pc / laptop setup. This mechanical gaming keyboard has 17 RGB light effects, you can connect upto 3 bluetooth devices at once, you can also connect through 2.4G usb dongle and last but not the least, the key-clicks and key-strokes are amazing. This mechanical keyboard works well on both Windows and Mac OS. It is rechargeable and battery is in-built. So, no need of any AA or AAA battery for this mechanical keyboard. As per price segment, it's on a bit higher side, as it is imported from countries outside India.

One of the best keyboard in market, very good quality its heavy and steady. Keyboard is super premium and the creamy switch is music to ears when you type. Must buy, i have compared with Aula and this turns out to be better.

Wasn’t sure what to expect out of this. I have had some great and not so great keyboards over my time, but this is a winner! The good! Really nice sound and feel! This is so satisfying to type and game on. It just feels so nice. Looks. I love how this looks! Everyone who sees it comments on how good it is! The ok stuff Despite its great quality it is not quite as polished as some main brands. You are able to control most things through the keyboard interface itself, but you will probably need the software if you want to dive in. Getting the software felt a bit dodgy. There is specific software for each model so you had to really search for the right one. The software itself is fine. It functions. It has the parts you need. It just feels a bit clunky. Battery life Again. It’s fine. I am recharging at least once per week. Half the time I just leave it in usb mode rather than wireless to avoid the hassle. Overall, nothing bad and lots of good/ great! Would definitely buy again.
