what makes the energy boost? is there caffine? I couldnt find anything besides sugar in the ingredients

The ingredients are intended to facilitate the replacement of electrolytes (salt, potassium) while rehydrating. I don’t think of them as an energy boost but rather energy maintenance (ie. loss of electrolytes and water quickly leads to fatigue). These types of products are included in 90% of the water I drink throughout the day. Pre and post run as well as during longer runs.

How do these taste compared to the new Nuun? I liked the old Nuun, but cannot stand the new version.

I have not tried new version. Based on old version of Nunn, Nunns were more workout theme. Meaning I felt the caffeine more and felt better after or during a hike GUs I use more for a drink during normal activities.

There are multiple flavor; the color of the canister indicates which one it contains. Red is punch, orange is orange, green is citrus.

Are these carbonated?

Well, as far as I know it’s liquids that can be carbonated, no I’d say no, but if you mean whether the resulting mix is bubbly, yes, it’s a bit bubbly when it’s done.
