It's not too difficult to install and it provides excellent trolling kicker motor control at low speeds, and it can make the motor accelerate to regain control in wind gusts. I would have given 5 stars, but turning the unit on is sometimes tricky.

Buyer beware! This is a series 1 even though picture says series 2. Big difference in product, and the 2 is the same price but much better. Do not buy from this seller.

The trollmaster is awesome!! It is as advertised as far as controlling your speed. The one complaint I have is although I ordered it for my exact model and year and it said so in the box, the mounting hardware wouldn't fit. I had to bend the throttle rod, and the mount wouldn't work as my motor cover would hit it. I made a small bracket and mounted it and it works great.

Find it to be temperamental when adjusting throttle up or down.

I hate giving 1 star to a company that has great ideas.My complaint is two fold. First, I have owned and operated this device for three summers. It's not perfect but it does a fair job controlling the carb linkage on my 2011 Merc 20hp- 4stroke. Electronically, it's not precise, but far better than adjusting manually.However, the device is not made for wet environments, or durable. On two occasions I've rendered the unit inoperable by dropping or putting excessive pressure on the main control knob used to actuate the servo motor. Each time, I've had to disassemble the device and reform the potentiometer wiper support bracket that holds the wiper assembly to the stationary resistor, which constitutes the potentiometer(variable resistor)This could have been avoided by providing a recess for the control knob that sits high above the face of the device.As a result of removing and replacing the four screws needed to service the internal components, the plastic at the base of each screw has cracked, and I am now using electrical tape to keep the unit from falling apart. For the current asking price, the device chassis should have been made from carbon fiber or aluminum.. Again, profit triumphs over quality.The second issue I have is that with the manufacturer's parts list on a web page. Their offering of parts does not include a new rear plastic housing for this unit. I've emailed their contact address and waited beyond twenty four hours for a reply, and as of this writing, not received a response.I've tried calling Troll Master and met the usual automated recording asking callers to leave a return call number. I didn't leave a call number, and have instead decided to build a suitable housing for the electronics to make it waterproof and highly resistant to damage from impact.I won't deny that the product has merit and does meet it's electronic design criteria. However, I question the value of a marine device, that is without water tight integrity, and lacks durability in the environment for which it was designed.I'm an avid Great Lakes Fisherman, and have a number of fishing peers. When asked about the Troll Master Pro2, I tell them all exactly what you have just been told.For the above reasons, I believe that I'm the only fisherman in this group of peers that owns this device.
