3M Synthetic Steel Wool Pads, 0000 Super Fine, 6-Pads

These synthetic pads worked beautifully for me. I was working on the chrome on a classic car. They really brightened up the chrome. Best of all, they do not rust.

I honestly can't believe that I'm leaving a comment on synthetic steel wool pads, but had to because these things are FANTASTIC. We bought them for applying Howard's Restor products, but now I'm using them for all but the most delicate projects and tasks. They're very durable, they don't rust, they're the perfect size and softness, and they're absolutely fantastic at cleaning. A+++

I bought these to use in a project where I didn't want any potential rust from real steel wool particles trapped in finish later on. However, I just didn't find these comparable to the real thing. They don't seem to be any more abrasive than my kitchen scrub pad. In fact, that's what I'm using them for now! Might was well get some use out of them. Perhaps I was expecting too much, but I had to go back to the old-fashioned messy stuff to see any results.

Bought this to work on my guitars. It doesn't work nearly as well to get the gunk off of the fretboard as when I use real steel wool. This is basically a stiffer version of a sponge.

I used this to reblue a rifle barrel and it worked great! It also doesn't leave metal shreds behind because it's not steel. If steel wool is used and any small piece is left behind it can cause rust. Not a problem with this wool.

You can't beat these for final buffing of woods which have been polyurethane-finished. I use a wipe on poly for most projects, and this pad will smooth out the final finish very nicely, especially if the wood is pretty smooth to begin with. You can also experiment with placing the pad between a small orbital sander and the wood surface. This will yield a more aggressive polishing, but go easy.

Bought this way back in 2017. Bought it to use on the glass areas of my cars. Did its job very well. In the last 5 years, I have only used two pads. The other 6 still remains in mint condition. Worth the money I had paid then.

I use this to apply oil to my wood boards. No color or fiber transfer, and helps with even spread and absorption of the oil.

This stuff is the absolute truth. I bought it to see if it will clean a lot of overspray on my car windows. and BOY did it deliver.
