When I got the fireplace the installer guys told me to use Lithofin Stain Stop on it, because an accident with something like Blackcurrent Squash or Red Wine will leave a permanent stain, duly I boshed some Stain Stop on it. After about a year the fireplace having been used, had some grubby marks. I used this and whilst initially having followed the direction to the letter, I wasn't impressed, but having had two attempts, I tried a third and what I didn't understand was each time I wasn't letting it fully dry out after cleaning it. Once the product had been rinsed and the stone dry it was apparent that the cleaning had worked very well. So top marks and clean your stone!
