The definitive biopic of Ayrton Senna da Silva
The story of Ayrton Senna is stitched together using archive footage showing all aspects of the character and driving skill of the man who many regard as being the greatest Formula 1 driver ever, contesting 161 F1 races, winning 41 and taking three world championships. He is portrayed variously as the Gene Kelly of F1, singing in the rain in his John Player Special Lotus at Portugal in 1985, the dodgem king of F1 in his collisions with intense rival Alain Prost at Suzuka in 1989 and 1990, the wronged hero of all Brazil and the mercurial, transcendental driving god displayed in qualifying at Monaco in 1988. This then is the definitive biopic of Ayrton Senna da Silva. Will we see his like again?

An enjoyable biographical film
I usually find biographical films annoying: clips of experts nattering about the person, clips of the person, another clip of someone else nattering and so on. This film, however was videos of Ayrton Senna with a voice over, so much more satisfying. And extremely moving at times.Alain Prost does not come out well! And neither does Balestre. But the points about the politics involved is relevant and depressing. One thing I would have liked to see was how he trained. There is no way you can just drive like that! It looks as if you learn the racing lines to take, then hop in and go as fast as possible. It's just not that easy!! This lack of information does not directly detract from it being an excellent film. But the effort these racing drivers put in behind the scenes is considerable and is as much a part of the story as the actual races.

Brilliant and sad
I used to watch formula 1 when Senna was at his peak. I found this documentary to be very informative and sad. The scene as he watched Roland Ratzenburger's crash, and walking away when he realised how bad it was when they were doing CPR. He also complained about the change in the cars and saying they were more dangerous, yet the authorities ignored him. It's just so sad that he became a casualty of what he had warned them about. And how, since his death, there's been no more formula 1 deaths. But he shouldn't have had to die for the people who run this sport to realise he was right.

One of the all time greats recognised by the greats, remembered by all.
Absolutely sensational! Ayrton Senna is still regarded one of the greatest drivers of all time due to his shear ruthlessness. This movie illustrates the raw emotional torment he endured from start to end of his career. In one part of the movie he is asked about who his most influential driver he ever came up against and he mentions a man with the surname Fullerton. This took his mind back to go karting. Of all the people Lauda, Prost, Mansell etc. he doesn't forget about his roots. Truly memorable and inspirational. Very few movies leave you thinking about real scenes for weeks. This movie is by far one of the best put together pieces of film of any sports star.

Documentary film making at it's very best! A must for sports fans!
Been meaning to watch this for ages. It is a wonderful piece of documentary film making. The race footage is breathtaking, the behind the scenes footage eye opening, I thought F1 was political now but the 80's & 90's make the present day squabbles seem very tame. But it was seeing more of Senna the man which made this a much more rounded portrait of such an iconic person.I found the last half hour very hard to watch. You know what's about to happen and it's heartbreaking. Especially Senna's on board camera shots.Chilling. Moved me to tears.Fantastic film, highly recommend, just keep the Kleenex handy.

Never has a documentary filled me with so much joy and admiration as well as bringing me to tears
I’m a relatively new F1 fan as I only really started following seriously towards the beginning of the 2020 season. I knew who Senna was before I became a fan and had seen a little about his life (Top Gear tribute etc.) but as I become more and more interested with each F1each race I knew this was something I needed to watch.Never has a documentary/film filled me with so much joy and admiration for someone as well as bringing me to tears. I can truly say that, even though I wasn’t born until 1999, Aryton Senna is one of my hero’s. I couldn’t recommend this film anymore to anyone. If your a fan of F1, it’s a must watch. If your a fan of inspirational people, it’s a must watch. This is a must watch for everyone as it truly shows the complexity of F1 and the bravery that all drivers (past and present) have.
